Nope, not for sale in North America. You can order from the UK, however...

Then there is the Selev Matrix:

I don't think most shops out of 'Yurp will ship a MET to the US, since they've never passed the required CPSC tests.

Another cool one is the Shain BK 100...has the bug-stopping mesh at the vents, and some kind of "self-healing" foam. $149. US.

Apparantly Chain Reaction Cycles will.

Atmos, looks great and VERY cool in both ways.

Here's my helmets. Catlike Kompact. Or Kompact 2 as they're called in the states after the redesign.

They both go nice with my shoes :)

I got mine by mail from the UK. They're certified to european regulations, not US. They were only recalled in the US because they screwed up and assumed they'd pass US regs.

That Selev is purty, but costs a lot of $$$.

I love this helmet, I have the grey/silver version but I like this red one better

http://www.cratoni.com/newimages/art.../ceron_rot.jpg

also has one of the best size adjustment gimmick too... way better than the Giro Roc Loc systems.

I know you said "best looking", but the Lazer helmet saved my life in a crash at 45+ mph. It doesn't cost $$$ either. The one shown is similar in style to mine, but I have a red-white-blue design.

The BEll Furio(good), Ghisallo(better) and Sweep(best) are all nice helmets with a good Flow to them. I have a Furio and a Ghisallo and I like them both a lot. Good fit system also.

I got mine from my LBS for Christmas in 2004. Another LBS had them at the time too, as did Excel Sports, but none of these places seem to be carrying them anymore. When I was in the shop a month ago I think I heard the owner say something to the effect that no one is importing them in the US anymore. I would guess that the importer got fed up dealing with all the recall requests. Mine was the Kompact2, the one that passed US inspection. My assumption is that the newest ones would pass as well, but that no one has stepped up to bring them here. The Kompact and the Whisper are available online from the UK at www.prendas.co.uk for pretty good prices. They are probably not CPSC rated. From their website:

For our customers in the USA - please note that this is a European version of the helmet and not the one sold in shops in the USA.

Do you draw the little heart-with-arrow-through-it symbol on the front of the Lazer helmet like Tom Boonen does?

Those are good looking lids. Are they available in the States?

I think all helmets look cool, if looking cool is important. I see in some photos of other's helmets, some utilize visors. Even tho I have read roadies have no use for visors, I find them helpful in bright sun and buy only helmets with visors.

Tsk Tsk. Roadie definitely = no visor. It's a fashion faux pas to be seen OCP'ing down the road with a...*gasp!*...visor attached to your lid.

Yeah, the newest ones aren't called the Kompact2 anymore, just Kompact. How much did you pay for shipping or duty or whatever? Let us know how it goes.

got an e-mail from prendas today that they shipped it with Royal Mail Airsure. the helmet cost 59.95 GBP and the shipping was 12.77 GBP. the current exchange rate is 1.7829 so my american total is $129.65. since i have never ordered from abroad i dont know if there are any hidden costs (duty or visa exchange charges) but if there are, they're probably nominal. i e-mailed prendas with some questions and will let you know what they reply with.

Too bad probikekit doesn't have them anymore - they were cheaper there.

specialized decibel, I can't find a high-res photo of the black one, here it is in white:

used by davitamon-lotto and domina vacanze, it's the one with the huge oval port above the forehead.

I personally wear this and find it a really comfortable helmet! It's a Bell Ghisallo

ok, i ordered my catlike from prendas.co.uk on 1/23/06 and USPS dropped it off today (1/28/06). i wasnt expecting a 6 day turn around from overseas to virginia. total cost 72.72 GBP (shipping included), no duty charges, so around $135.00 american. im very happy with their service & extremely happy with the helmet. you're right about the octopus fit, very comfortable.

here's a few pics.
