Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Arione saddle owners!

Question to Arione owners. What kind of level do you have on your saddle? Do you level fist flat part or you average or sth else? I sort of changed my slightly and now it seems that I lost my sweet spot!
Thanks

looking at the front 2/3 of the saddle, mine's pretty level, so if you use the whole saddle, I guess it would look like the nose is down just a tad compared to the very rear, not much though.

Where do you put the level? On bak & the nose - that will raise the front quite a bit!

I put a level on my saddle back to front. Seems to be fine for me.

Thanks. Since there's a limited amount of ridding outside I have problems with my after I moved it. There's different feel of sitting in the saddle when you're outside or inside on the trainer. I raised the nose of mine to make it more level (it is more or less level for about 60%) & it feels very good inside but during my Sat ride (very intense due to 60km wind) I felt overstreched a little.
Cheers

Actually It looks very similar to my, but I thin it's not quite levelled.

Wow. You've got some high bars. But, if it works for you.

Mine's set very slightly nose-down. And I mean slightly - laid in-line with the saddle, my level shows the bubble maybe 1mm off-center, and when I bring it up to level, there's about 2mm between it and the saddle nose. I've only had 2 road rides so far on it; seems OK.

High bars, and the saddle couldnt go any further back. Kinda looks like someone needs a bigger frame.

If you take a look at the owner's manual for Schwinn Paramounts from around 1965 to 1980, the bars are as high as the top of the saddle. Every "major" author on bike fit in that era suggested starting with the bars at the height of the saddle, and then making slight adjustments.

After Greg LeMond won the Tour de France on the last day, riding in a low aero position, that became the "fad" position for folks who are riding to school, to their jobs, to Krogers and to Starbucks. So, forty year old guys on a Sunday morning tour are now riding in a "time trial" postion. And, bike designs have changed, making it VERY difficult with most 2006 model road bikes to set the bars at the same height as the saddle.

As a result, millions of road bikes are hanging, unridden, from the ceilings of American garages. The owners complain "I can't ride a road bike...my neck hurts, my hands hurt, my back hurts, my crotch hurts"...and, all those problems would have gone away if the owner had just raised his bars two or three inches.

Mines at a slight angle down. The front bit is level, but the back is at a slight downward slope - pretty similar to Mariner Fan.

Just about right in the middle. I thought the saddle was flat (I used to have the Aliante and that didn't have a single flat spot)
