DHL and lost trainer.
I ordered a trainer from Bicyclebuy in Huntington, NY. They shipped it via DHL ground. The tracking says DHL left it on the front door, in plain view of the street. It is not there when I got back. DHL says the shipper didn't specify a signature, so their policy is to leave it at the front door.
Either they left it at someone else's door, or someone else liked the idea of using my trainer at their homes without my permission.
What recourse do I have?

never happened to me personally, but I'm sure you're not the first. If DHL won't do anything about it, and the store you bought it from won't do anything about it. I would guess that you could file a claim with your credit card company.
just a thought.

Call DHL and the vendor immediately.
This "occurance" has happened to me with an iPod mini. Luckily, the box "went missing" on the way too me from Apple when it was empty (for repair).
There have been SEVERAL issues on the Xbox 360 forum with people sending their 360 in for repair and on the way back (when folks, including drivers, would know it was now repaired and had a residential destination address intstead of Microsoft) it never made it back to the person.
The most important thing is to notify DHL and vendor immediately.
Do you live in an apartment complex? Just a few thoughts.
I will keep an eye on this thread as I am in this industry. I cannot give you professional advice (possible conflicts) but I can give you objective advice and information based on what your rights are and what can be done.
It will most likely not be easy and you will have to create some polite "tension" but I would not give up easily.
