Having put these wheels on my ride, I don't want to take them off!
The original idea was to just use them for events, maybe 5 or 6 times a year, but having ridden them I really, really want to keep them on.
I do realise the idea of a light set of wheels is so you can feel the difference from your training wheels(Shimano550 with Armadillos) .
I commute 15 miles to work a couple of times a week and weigh 195 so I guess it may not be the best thing to do.

try to stick with your original idea. If you want to expand your use of them uses them for some of your longer or hilly training rides as a treat.

I use my Mavic SL as every day wheels, although I don't commute (in which case my concern would be theft). Pretty expensive wheels to only use 5 or 6 times a year.

I guess it depends somewhat on what you're doing. I ride a "beater" in bad weather / winter, so I'm not exposing my Mavics to everything.

Ride them all you want. I have a set of the old Heliums and I am your weight. I have put thousands of miles on them commuting. I dont even own a car. Planning to get the new ES's on my IF thats coming. Dont waste em man. They were built to be ridden.

I would use them more than 5 or 6 times, but not for all riding. I would say take them off in the winter and maybe ride with them sometimes in the summer. Also, if you want for r550's to be faster, take off the armadillos! Get a good tire that has a kevlar belt such as Vittoria Rubino Pros.
