A couple of the R2.5 build-up

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm waiting on my record braze on so I threw it on. It's a 9 speed triple, and it works flawlessly oddly enough.

I just set the inner and outer limits, and away we went.

FINALLY I got some miles on her. I'm about 80 miles in right now and I am just astounded at how good this bike is. I'll put together a complete report later. Here are some pics from the first nice ride day ina long time...

More later

That's a very nice looking Cervelo...

I've been saving photos of particularly well built Cervelos (Canadian pride!) for the past year, here's some other nice Cervelos:

Here's a comparison shot.
Rare to see Mavic brakes these days (I think this bike is in Europe).

Man i love those P3C's. I wish I was thin enough to justify a TT bike. (or slick enough with the wife to justify it to her if I WAS thin enough...)

If you want a pic of a really well built Cervelo, wait til I get the carbon crank and some right proper tires on her...

couldn't you get that stem a little lower on the steerer? Just kidding. Looks like it is ready for public consumption right now. Excellent bike.

I'd be interested in hearing more detail about your impressions of the differences between the Cervelo and the Pinarellos. I'm actually in the market for my dream bike (a long-term shopping process -- I have positive spousal ok, but she says I have to wait until 2007 to buy), and I've got it narrowed down to a few choices, including a Carbon Soloist and a Paris Carbon. (The other frontrunner is a Colnago President, but that'll take some more scratch, and so is less likely.) I'm waiting for better weather to test ride, but wondered what differences you saw. You ended up buying the Cervelo this time -- do you like it better than the Pinarellos, or did you choose it for some variety? Curious to know your thoughts (as well as those of others who may have ridden both)...

Yeah thats no joke, when I first rode it that afternoon I was pantamiming to my riding buddies that I was riding a chopper with ape-hangers. I have since dropped them 1.5 cm, and I'll prolly go another 1.5 before I'm done. I didnt cut the steerer, I've just been playing with spacers to make SURE it was where I wanted it before I commit. One more good reason to build your own bike.

I've ridden the Paris Carbon, and of course most of the aluminum and Magnesium Pinnys, and it is every bit my intent to post a positive/negative report on them. Stay tuned...
