Used CF frame? Would you buy?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Used CF frame? Would you buy?

I know this has been asked before. Would you buy a used CF frame?

Here's the situation. I crashed my almost brand new CF bike last year and I'm itching to buy a new one. But I've found a used one from the same manufacturer that is actually 2 models up from the one I had that's in my size. It is also from a reputable dealer so I'm not worried about getting ripped off. Would you do it? The price is OK, not great, but still less than what I'd end up replacing my frame new. There is >$1000 difference in the prices new of the 2 frames.

Its just so hard to convince myself to buy a used CF frame, but why not? If I still had mine, it would be in the same condition, maybe even worse. The other issue I have is that I've been at my LBS multiple times and they always are willing to show me whatever I want to see, and they know my situation with the crash and all. I'd feel guilty not buying from them, but a thousand bucks is a thousand bucks.

Kuota hasn't been around that long, so a used frame shouldn't be that big a risk. Does your dealer know the history of this particular frame? Did they sell it originally, then take it in trade? Do they know the original owner, and would they be willing to let you contact that person? Or have him contact you?

I spoke to a guy who works for the Aus importer of Fondriest and Kuota, and he says he perfers his much cheaper Kuota to his top-of-the-line Fondriest!!!

I'm a little dubious of some carbon parts, but a frame is usually made in 8 main sections (3 main tubes, head-tube and 4 stays, so, if one tube busted, it's probably not gunna be as catastrophic is something like a stem snapping.

There's one big difference. You would know the exact condition of your frame. CF can hide much damage. Get it inspected carefully.

I ultimately bought the frame. It was a low mile, 5'3" women's frame from the shop's team and was not used for training. The stated weight on the Kuota website for the small Kredo is 1030g, so I think this is getting into weight weenie territory. I should be able to get this under 16lbs, but that isn't a priority.

Pics soon come, gotta get the bike first.
