Very nice but she might have too much weight up top to entitle her to an ultralight bike

you tell someone that you race Road bikes they most likely think that equates to the Pro level rider.
BTW what does it say about Lance when he shows up to an amature mt bike or cyclocross race? This is something he did a lot of in the past. Or when he shows up to the Tuesday Nighter to race with those 'fast rec' riders? During my 1 hour plus ride with him he was totally cool and never gave me any attitude because I wasn't a pro rider. Apparently the pros don't think the way you do about amature or grassroots racing, that may be because before they were pro's they were amature racers too.

The bald guy with the grey ponytail is only buying the Viper now because I took him so long to save up for it. Old guys buy nice stuff because they can finally afford the cool stuff they've always wanted. You don't have to be young or super fit to enjoy quality.

How about this SDRider? It is a free country, people are free to buy the most expensive bike and I am free to write what I want and how I want. If you choose not to read it I couldn't care less. Now isn't that an original idea AlanS?

Ok, well I gained enlightenment tonight. Not from reading this thread (suprise), but by going on a group ride. Turns out 'cbip' is a guy I know and ride with a lot. I didn't know it was him and he was mainly yanking my chain for fun, and the rest of you guys were inadvertantly sucked in along with me. Although we did have a discussion tonight about racers vs. non-racers - not sure anything was settled in person either. 2Roadies - he did show up at the shop ride last Sunday. He was expecting me to be there but rode w/you guys when I didn't show(I was traveling). I think when he said "I rode with a guy who rode with Lance" he might have actually been referring to you.

I really thought Ravenmore would catch on faster but I had to let the cat out of the bag last night.
Come on guys you either are riding everyday as a job, that means getting paid to do it, which makes you a Pro racer or you ride everyday as recreational rider which means you dont get paid which makes you an Amature Racer. Both are riders but one of them is a RACER the other just races. Not that there is anything less impressive about the racing you do, just dont think you are some stud racer just because you can out run Bobby Joe Blow who went out drinking last night and is hung over at the race today.

This is a very stupid thread, BUT
I rode an organized ride two weeks ago, (Camp For all Hilltop ride)
There was some BIG 'OL DUDE (official medical term) on a BMC, full record, nice bike all in all, but the real killer, which I didnt notice til the end of the ride (which by the way he finished an hour behind me despite having gone 20 fewer miles) was the HYPERON ULTRA WHEELS!
I was blown away. I couldnt believe it. THis thing was like 10G after all was said and done, and all it needed was a set of Profile folding aero bars to be the pinnacle of MS 150 Barneyness. More power to dude for getting out there onthe bike, and knocking it back, I mean I dont care what his kit cost him, but really, those wheels are absurd. ESPECIALLY for a laid back charity ride that he averaged about 10 -11 mph for. Showing up like that for a charity ride is almost a slap in the face. He prolly raised hell about the 50.00 entry cost. I have a pic, I'll post it in a bit.

I may be whatever you want to call me - an "amature" racer. A Cat 5 racer - whatever. Sorry I'm not in the TDF but I still race bikes.
