Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pinarello Galileo/Ultegra: $2200?

Before I drop $2200 dollars, I wanted to know what you all thought of the Pinarello Galieo w/ full Ultegra. I rode the bike once, rather quickly, since it was on my lunch hour, and on a poorly maintained street I might add. Rode very well considering the road conditions: felt responsive and nimble. Anyone with in-depth experience with this bike? Don't know if I should save and drop the dough on a full carbon or hope to be satisfied with this option.

Thanks for the tips to come.

that's one of the bikes i was looking at before i went ahead with my build. the only thing i had to justify buying the pinarello instead of building what i did was the name. honestly, if you want the name, then go for it. it's a beautiful bike for sure. but after riding that, then thinking twice and going forward with my build, i think i made the right choice.

here's what i built for $200 less than the pinarello:

mm...I love blue bikes. They're just sexy.

Of course, they don't compare with the sheer woman-grabbing power of a Pinarello, but then again, nothing does.
