Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ebay Advice needed

I sold (or thought I sold) our Bike Friday Tandem Traveler XL on ebay. The Auction closed last saturday. I sent the payment instructions out immediately to the winning bidder. He sent me an email saying he'd get the check from the bank on monday. I haven't received the check, or any indication that's he's sent it. I sent him an email yesterday just checking up on whether he'd had a chance to mail the check. I haven't gotten a response to that email. I realize that the check could be in the mail, however I would have thougt he would have emailed me when he sent the check or in response to my email. What's the protocol here? The second place bidder has already told me they still want the bike, if the auction falls through. How long should I wait for payment, or at least some acknowledgement that the payment has been mailed? Am I just beining impatient?

7-10 days unless otherwise stated in your auction. Then bail on the deadbeat.

I agree with the 7-10 days if no communications from the buyer mitigates your conclusion that he's a flake. I'd also notify the second high bidder that he's in line to get the bike after that time period. I say that due to courtesy and also so he doesn't start bidding on an alternative.

Great news. Now, be just as careful & don't ship the bike until the cashier's check clears. Bob
