Ride is over. You missed it if you didn't show. Great weather! Light traffic, and banana smoothies!

Pico, Mrs. Pico, 1955, Nosra451, and I were there. As Nosra already said, it was a beautiful day out and a great ride. I'm sorry more of you couldn't make it.

We'll have to do this again sometime.

It was good to see jschen, 1955, and nosra451 again. The ride went quite well and I enjoyed riding in areas I never been to before.

The low attendance got me wondering; what type of ride does it take to get a lot of people to come? Today's ride was a mellow ride through some nice country (well as country as OC gets) roads. I would have thought people would come in droves. But, actually we had the best turn out for the hilly ride OC Roadie organized back in November.

I guess a Sunday ride didn't help attendance. Sorry I helped push things toward Sunday... it appears that that made several people unable to attend. That said, no one other than Fixer voiced any issues with the date back when we were picking a date. So what happened to everyone else?

I thought this ride was a great choice. A bit of every type of terrain (other than ultra-long or ultra-steep climbs), nice quiet and scenic roads, and overall a pretty chill and relaxed ride. And somehow, it felt like there was more downhill than climbing. I'm not sure how that works.

That said, ouch! I'm still sore from it. Any ride can be tough if you crank up the pace enough. Near the end, I was most definitely feeling it in my left leg. Well, nothing like riding with faster riders to make one faster.

You know what it was?.... It was that Wold Cup thing...:D Big game this morning.
My business was completely dead til about noon today, thanks to soccer. I almost could have shut my business down for the morning and gone riding.

Glad to hear you all got a good ride in this morning....:)

Hi,

I was interested in going on this ride but it was the day after the bear. :(

I am always interested in checking out new routes in the area and meeting local cyclists. Hopefully next time. :)

I’m just now finally having a chance to post about this ride. It really is too bad that more people didn’t come because this was an ideal ride for people to get together for a good time, which it most certainly was. This ride had it all, long straight flats, hills, twisty technical down hills, a long steady downhill (9 miles) with only a slight head wind to keep our speed in check and even some OC country such that it is. It was great to see jschen, Pico, and nosra451 again and a big thanks to Nosra451 and his wife for their hospitality and a great ride. I'm looking forward to the next one.

looks like you guys and gal had a great time!!!! ya.... i'm not into doing two far from home rides in a row! did it once last year and it was ROUGH!

plus i'm really NOT that fast... and always feel like i'd either hold everyone back (if it was a no-drop ride)http://www.smileycons.com/img/emotions/207.gif or be left to get lost on my own! http://www.smileycons.com/img/emotions/121.gif

First of all we would NOT have left you behind and secondly I would have been back there with you trying to hang on.

Says the person who passed me going up Oak Glen. ;) You would have kept up just fine.

By the way, 1955, if you're interested in Baldy on the 24th or 25th (next weekend), let me know and we'll figure out something. (No hurry to decide. I'll be there regardless.) We'd take our time and climb at whatever pace you want. Nosra, I know you'll be out of town that weekend. So if you're interested on the 17th (this Saturday), let me know. Pico, I'd invite you, but you'd probably be bored to tears waiting for me on Baldy.

Hey Jason,

That still sounds like fun, it looks like that would be a good weekend for me, let’s call it 95% at this time. I'm going on vacation soon after that, but I should be ok. If you don't mind, I'll ask some of my other riding buddies to see if they would like to go, we have been talking about a ride up baldy for awhile.

jschen 06-13-06 10:41 AM

Sure... the more the merrier. Just let me know whenever you decide. I plan on riding Baldy on both of those days anyway.

Sorry, the 24th or 25th are best for me.

jschen 06-13-06 12:03 PM

That's what I meant... I'm riding Baldy on the 24th and the 25th anyway.
