Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anybody doing this 500 mile 5-Day SF to SD California charity ride in October?

Details to follow... my pal just invited me to do this massive 400 mile/ 5 day charity ride with him this coming October along the CA coast with some Silicon Valley pals of his (he's kind of bi-coastal, lives in NJ, main office in San Jose). I am SO there. Sounds like a great trip. Ride sponsored by Qualcomm....

Somebody here must know about this. What charity? Do they have a website? Can't be too many rides that fit that description...

There are several charity rides that go down the coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles or San Diego. The biggest one is probably the AIDS ride: https://www.aidslifecycle.org/

Are you sure it's only 500 miles from SF to SD?

Distance is around 500 miles via Interstate 5. The coastal route is about 200 miles longer.

My buddy actually said '5 days, 400 miles'. I couldn't tell you. It's a long way. And scenic : ).

Do you know of any in late October/early November? Those are the alleged dates of this event. Again, supposedly Qualcomm is a big sponsor. All hearsay from one email.
