When life gives you lemons cut them in half and rub them in your eyes
Well, three more weeks of this pesky fiberglass thing on my arm. It has become loose since the swelling has abated and now the metal pin that is sticking in my hand keeps getting caught on the inside of the cast. Not a delightful situation. So instead of bellyaching (besides this post) I decided to irritate myself even further by pushing my lower body and lungs to the limit at the gym.
The first week after my horrendous crash, I could barely walk and do things on my own. Depression set in hard. Soon after, it was coupled with anxiety about medical bills, sick leave, surgery, doctors, yard work, training, etc. I had no way of alleviating the torment except with old “Mystery Science Theater 3000” videos. Thank you Crow T Robot.
But now I feel so much better. The masochist in me has become the primary personality. I no longer dwell on the negative - those situations I can’t control. I do however dwell on things I can control: Like how much pain I can put my legs and lungs in.

Glad to hear you are philosophical about it, and that you are working out. When I got injured I wallowed in self pity and gained 35 pounds.

Best of luck to you. My no-speed crash happened 8/04, I haven't recovered, and now have nerve problems in both arms from scar tissue and overuse syndromes. My livelihood is in jeopardy, I'm in constant pain, and only continue to participate here because I don't know what else to do.
I'm clearly an extreme case in terms of my situation, so I have no doubt your recovery will go much better. As for me, I have no idea what the future holds. I just do my best.
When you do return to the bike (and you will), ride a few miles for me.
