Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Rhode Gear EuroShuttle any good?

Well in my endless quest to figure out how to move a bike from point a to point b in my tiny Del Sol I have encountered a seller on craigslist who is selling a Rhode Gear EuroShuttle, I really can't find anything at all about this anywhere on the internet and was wondering if anyone on here has any experience or information on it?

Is this the rack for a trunk where two bikes are fork mounted fore-and-aft with front wheels removed? If it is, I have some experience with it.

A former coworker gave me his Rhode Gear EuroShuttle, but it did not come with instructions. How does it attach to the trunk? Do the two fork mounts face forward or are they rearward? Where is the best place to put the 6 clasps?

I had one of these 10 years ago when I was riding a lot. When I got back into cycling about 1.5 years ago, the first thing I did was to try to find a new one. Turns out they stopped making them a long time ago. Why? God only knows because it is the best of both worlds (trunk rack and roof top rack). Finally, one of my LBS had one in the box and I snatched it.

It is the nicest bike rack I have seen. Goes on very easy and comes off just as easy. Bike is very secure in it, and it is very simple to put the bike on and take it off. Very stable at fast speeds on the road. I have done 120 MPH on my Audi with it and the bike on without as much as a wobble if put on properly.

I would get it without hesitation. Below are a couple of pictures of it. Sorry, they are not very good.

You get the idea.
