Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Edge 305 cadence kit?

I have just purchased the cadence kit and need a ? answered.

If you use the spoke magnet, will that not interfere with your GPS mph readout......I mean, want there be some descrepancy?

I just want to know my RPM's so I am using the pedal magnet only but if I chose to put on the spoke magnet, will the two counteract in any way?

no... they don't counteract... they interact! however.... if you are in an open area where you ALWAYS have access to the satellites... you won't need the speed magnet....

the speed magnet only kicks in when you go in a tunner or under heavy tree cover... where i live.. i have neither (although on a couple of different rides out of my area... i have gone into tunnels.. and yes.. you lose gps signal.....

looking at your location... i would think you would want the spoke/speed magnet to pick up the slack... cuz don't you have a lot of tree cover?

Yes.............living in western NC in the mountains you get that and the tunnels on the parkway.

I see your point!

The main reason for the spoke magnet is so that you can still use your Edge with an indoor trainer.

Kudos to Garmin..................they sent me a new Edge 305 and included the cadence kit. Now I have two cadence kits so when I build the new bike I won't have to buy another one! Yipppeeee!
