Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Important idea

On a long ride today (as I was losing brain blood to the legs) I realized that with all the new bike materials, why hasn't anyone made a bike out of adamantium. It'd be unbreakable, and the chain would never stretch. Of course, the stuff is toxic, as Wolverine discovered.

What other materials should be used to make bikes? LOL.

LOL. Maybe, maybe not. I'm afraid they're going to take it in a bad direction, but I have been very impressed with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. I was hoping they'd dump Halle Berry as she's been AWFUL in X-Men (along with Cyclops who was MUCH more impressive in the original comics than in these movies).

Don't think Adam Ant would be impressed if you tried to make a bike out of him.

The OP should be banned and have "dork" tattooed on his forehead. I wonder what character you dressed up as for the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars movies.

Mithril steel. As an added benefit it would also be +1 against dogs and cars.

I think Transparent Aluminum would work best. I'll check with Dr. "Bones" McCoy as to the feasibility of a T.A. frameset. Heck, a 1" thick sheet of the stuff held nearly 1,000,000 gallons of sea water and two humpback whales in the cargo hold of a Klingon Bird of Prey. And withstood the force of travelling through time by doing a lap 'round the Sun. I think a properly fitted T.A. bike could support my frame while bombing down some hill.

Yeah, when it comes out of your eyes...you've pretty much had enough.

adamantium, unobtainum, transparent aluminium.. all good.

On a serious note, has anyone come across a bike made from Reynold's aluminum-lithium X-100 alloy?

Right, because as a cyclist in your spandex shorts and shirt, bike socks/shoes, you're the epitome of cool.

Actually, not from the movies but from the comics. After Magneto removes all the adamantium from Wolverine, and he recovers, he discovers that his healing powers are 10 times more powerful than before. That's when they discover adamantium is toxic and Wolverine's body was wasting its healing powers by constantly fighting the poison of the metal. (Yes, it's a bit sad I know all this ;P)

LOL. Good suggestion! And since it's super light, it'd probably be as light as a carbon-fiber bike.
