1) Specialized and Trek are junk. Save that $2000 as as down payment on a Colnago.
3) No question about it, you need a 48. Sure, it'll be a little awkward, and you'll need a 700mm seatpost, but when you're down in the drops (BTW, you *DID* flip your stem, right?!), you will look like a racer-dude and that's what's important.

I do not know what you mean by "flip the stem". I have flipped the handlebars. The bike is much easier to ride now; especially when I am hauling bags of aluminum cans.

Well just be thankful for all of those "repeat" questions; they keep any forum alive. Someone else said it best on here: Moderate your own forum. Don't want to answer a question? Well don't do it, and don't think about it, its the internet my friend, not your boss.

Here's a tip: You'll be flamed if you ask a question that has been adressed before. You'll also be flamed if you search and resurrect an old thread. So basically, if it has ever been discussed before, don't ever discuss it again. It's kind of like the first two rules of Fight Club. Kind of ironic for a forum designed to let people talk about biking stuff, don't you think?
Another alternative is to use Bike Forums as an opportunity to talk about bikes, and let the self-righteous people sit in a corner with their collective chamois in a bunch.
