Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wow, epic fail

Btw, you can probably look for him at the Tour of California when they come out here in May...

Edit: Hmm, I was probably caught in an April Fool's joke...

It bears repeating, the Addiction thread is this year's April Fools joke.

For the guy who thinks this thread oozes with elitism, I would venture to guess he's never made it out of the tuesday night C ride, the one that's advertised as a 14-17mph average for 15-20 miles (or until it starts to get dark).

Actually, the Addiction thread is a good reason why anyone who chirps in with a "use the search button" or moans about how something has been asked a bazillion times before, needs to be slapped upside the head with a dead cod.

Christ on a crutch, something is wrong with me: I just read the whole thing. I learned a lot. Mostly I learned my natural response to getting yelled at ("screw up less, do it better, pedal harder, no whining") was right on the money. God, but do I love this sport. Glad I found it.

I don't know if April Fools had anything to do with it but the fact that the latest "Pcad Buys (another) Bike" thread is 30+ pages ahead of this legend is mind-boggling.

Not quite...this thread has substance, his thread is junk and should have been shunned to foo about 70 pages ago. When someone is contemplating that first A ride on a Sat, they check here first.

OK, tried to make peace in the other thread formerly called the 'junk thread' - now go ride your bike or something.

Can we keep this thread on topic so it doesn't turn into another Addiction thread.

I got yelled at again today for loosing the wheel in front of me, thus opening a gap the riders behind me had to close.
But then the whole ride blew up and I no longer cared.

Tuesday night ride starts this week, that's where the real yelling begins
