Compensation for the web retailers posting??
While I personally find it better for the retailers (BD, Flyte and others) to openly posted as a rep from their company rather than masking as "a very well informed consumer", we send them lots of business from this site and the very least they could do is sponsor up this forum or as I like to think of it, pay for the advertising.
Just my brief rant

Sounds like a great idea. Maybe charge a nickel for every time the words "BikesDirect" or "Motobecane" are used.
My 10 cents is in the mail.

^ lol the forum I moderate has vendor privileges. You'll never get rid of undercover "supporters" but by offering some nice perks, vendors are often willing to pay a little for their advantages. Such things included rules against direct linking to non vendor sites, dedicated forums for "gold" vendors, in which they can moderate themselves, banners with links, etc.

I think the whole Motobecane thing is funny. There are poster here who believe that all of us that own a Motobecane work for BD. Let me assure you that is not the case and I do not think they run around to different locations and take pictures of their bikes in front of various houses. What about all of the big name bikes that are posted about all of the time? I have seen "show me pictures of your _____ " for just about every brand, are these vendors also? If someone asks if they should buy any brand bike and you reply, are you a vendor? If you were to moderate one brand you would need to moderate all and then we would not have much to talk about. If you see a link that you do not want to visit, then do not click it.

Well, let's see. DLH, and a handful of his pals keep three or four Motobecane threads on Page One of Road Cycling everyday. DLH alone will remind us at least fifty times during June that "I own a Motobecane and it is the bestest bike in the whole-wide world.
So, if each time DLH and his buddies 'bumped" one of their Moto threads back to Page One, or if each time DHL tells us he owns a Moto, Joe got a penny, why, in no time at all, Joe is gonna be rich.
We have three or four threads going around "Bike Forums" asking "why are the Forums so slow"? It would be interesting to delete all of the Moto promotions and BikesDirect promotion threads for a few weeks.
My guess: there would be a notable increase in the speed of the Forums, not to mention a return to the good old days when it reall was the "Bike Forums", not the "BikeDirect Forums".
