Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

today i took a spill

5 stitches and road rash to the right cheeck (see below)
severely sprained (and swollen) left index finger (see below)
sprained right wrist
abrasions a couple places on my body.

sad thing is....only one motorist slowed down and asked if i was alright.

my fork was practically bent in half and torqued to the left. have a brand new carbon upgrade on the way to fix that

dont even kno how it happened....just endo'd out of nowhere and the next second i was eating gravel...i was lucky, too....this happened almost in the middle of a huge intersection.

Ouch! Sorry that happened! Just keep in mind it could have been worse, no broken jaw or other bones. Hope you heal quickly.

haha thanks alot guys. when they were sewing me up they were having a hard time cuz when they would thread it through they would have trouble seeing what was the thread and what was the facial hair. my brother took the pic of my fingers for me. i wasnt even on any hill....completely flat actually. i honestly cant think of what happened....one second i was cruising along and the next, like i said, i was on the ground. the chin doesnt even hurt...i havent had stitches since i was 1yo and it was the least of my worries. the 125$ i have to fork out for the new....fork....and the finger are the most painful. i was only going ab 15 or 16mph, too.

Wow. You'd think mom and dads would be telling their kids not to buy a road bike just like they do about motorcycles. When you fall on either the results are nasty, but the difference is it's ok to wear leathers on a motorcycle.

I had a childhood buddy ride into a storm grain grate one day, Longways. It screwed him up bad. He was doing around 12 MPH and it threw him 30 feet.

Something had to have locked the Front wheel. Dang, that sucks.

Just chill for a day or so, get the ol lady to shave ya

then a massage would be in order, front and back

You know, when they say "flip it" they mean the stem, not the whole bike!

Seriously, glad you are mostly OK!

I saw a post the other day about a squirrel (or maybe it was a different animal) that jumped between the spokes of the front wheel. Is it possible this happened to you? If not, look around the area, maybe you did hit a grate in the road.

Oh yeah, where are the pics of the bike?
