self expanding seat posts...

i have this road bike that i found in the trash about a year ago.
it has no seat post clamp because you can tighten a bolt at the top of the post that makes it stick in the seat tube.
i was wondering if these "self-expanding" seat posts are at all common? and if i could get a lighter one.
ive looked online for them but cant find any
perhaps im using the wrong term for them.
someone please fill me on this dilemma.
