Hydration in the wind
Completed a pretty hilly ride on Sunday and spent the better part of an hour climbing while fighting a strong dry and hot head wind. During the long climb my mouth and throat were really dry. I was constantly taking little sips of water and drank much more than I usually do. When I finally crested and was able to change directions out of the wind, I felt a bit bloated because of all the fluid I ended up taking in.
I usually stick to approximately to one 20oz water bottle every hour. On hot days, I may drink a little more 24-26 ozs. Anyway, without getting into the whole science of dehydration and hyponatremia, is there a danger of drinking too much in the wind because you always feel thirsty?
Also, any suggestions for keeping your mouth and throat from getting dry without bloating your belly?

a few things:
1. try closing your mouth and breathing more through your nose. that may keep your mouth from drying out so quickly.
2. take some water, swish it around, and spit it out without actually drinking it.
3. eat more solid food. lots of liquid on a near empty stomach can cause all sorts of stomach problems.
