USB cover on Garmin Edge 305
i just got my Edge today; came home from work at lunch to charge it up so i could play with it when i got home. my biggest grip at this point is the little plastic-like USB cover on the back will not stay closed. i finally just put a little strip of electrical tape on it. i mean, i've tried to get the parts lined up and i do get it pushed in till it looks as though it's correct, but it just won't stay
does anyone else have this problem?
also, when you begin a ride, you have to push the start/stop button? it's not an auto start like my cateye double wireless w/hr?
i'll probably have other questions as i have the opportunity to use it more...
thanks, karen.

The usb cover is lame. Mine stays in though.. Yes when you start you do have to hit the start button to start the timer. There is an auto-pause feature for when you stop though.

Karen - The weather cap is pretty tight and requires a little finessing to get into place. I expect it will be the first part to fail on the unit, so I only secure it if I'll be riding in wet conditions. The Start/Stop button has to be pushed at the start of every ride, and it auto pauses either when stopped or at a custom speed. Manually starting the recording of a ride is beneficial because you can differentiate between a warmup and race, or riding to a rendezvous point and the ride itself, etc. From my own personal experience, those I've ridden with and posts I've read here: The unit may take a week for the GPS antenna and HRM to settle down, and it won't accurately quantify calories burned. Last: Don't forget to download the latest drivers and application software from Garmin.

well, guess i just don't have the hang of it yet. seems to be a little "bump" on one side, like it's not fitting in properly.

With continous opening and closing of the USB port with the rubber cover I'm wondering whether the cover is going to eventually break off. How easy is it going to be to replace? I would like to purchase a few replacement covers an replace often as I am not convinced that with constant use the cover is going to be as watertight as it is when it is new.

i don't have a problem closing the usb cover.... but i agree... it will probably be the first thing to go... and it doesn't appear to be replaceable.... we'll see?
