a week off
Hey, I am taking a week off from cycling. It that ok. Will I lose strength and endurance? Also this week I am only lifting weights for my upper body and just leting my legs rest. Will taking a week off from cycling hurt my cycling? Also I have a race in a month.

smartest thing you could do for your mental and physical state. a month out is good timing. use the time well to stretch and message your legs. it takes more time than a week to lose your strength. getting back may produce a more choppy pedal stroke than you would normally have (it always does to me) but this is the right thing to do to refocus.

Taking a week off is okay. If you can, perhaps you might be able to get on the bike a couple of days? It is better to spin easy for an hour every once in a while than getting off completely for a week. This will give your legs a rest, but they won't forget how to keep the pedals turning, you know?
Don't worry, you won't lose any noticable strength or endurance. Just make sure your week easy doesn't turn into any more, since you have a race in a month. Good-luck!
