Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't think anyone will forget Lance. BUT! "Furious Floyd" as I like to call him, definately made his mark in cycling and the TDF history books this year. I hope he can come back from the hip replacement, but if not, he has left a lasting impression on the tour and many who follow cycling.

Just like in any other sport, what have you done for me lately? No one will ever forget Lance just like Jordan but it's Floyds time to shine now.

Well, maybe "how quickly we change focus". I don't think anyone will be "forgetting" Lance anytime soon.

Why do you say we forget when your posting about him? Does that mean you actually remember?

You don't forget 7 consecutive TDF wins, but at the same time, we watch the sport because of what is currently happening. No one watches the World Series and laments that the only true WS champs arethe 1927 New York Yankees. Lance will always be remembered for what he accomplished, but the sport moves on. Remember, we are all just dust in the wind.

Did you see him on the ESPYs? He said he told the ESPY director he would "give his left nut to host the awards".

There's always room for more heroes.

Floyd represents something totally different.
Let's not go crazy erasing the history books just because we have a new leader.
