I want to replace the headset/fork on my Bianchi XL Boron from a threaded to threadless. The headtube is 1" and of course it's always ridiculously hard to find cheap 1" threadless.....

My question is this....I found this headset on ebay....it says it's a 1" Campy Record hiddenset, but the box appears to be a normal headset of the non-integrated type, and to my knowledge there is no such thing as a 1" integrated headtube. Am I wrong in this assumption?

can anyone give me any advice on this matter? any suggestions as to a reasonably cheap 1" threadless that doesn't completely suck....I'd like to spend no more than $30-40 shipped....

You are right. I don't think it is a hiddenset. If you want 1" threadless, Campy does make the Chorus 1" threadless for about $42 at Probikekit.

FSA also makes some 1" threadless versions.

However, if you go from threaded to threadless, you will need a new fork, since your threaded steerer is not a good idea to use in a threadless setup.

If your reason for doing this is to simply be able to use a threadless stem, keep everything in tact and just get a threadless stem adapter instead.

yes...I know. I'm getting a new fork too....I just got this bike yesterday, and I'm in the process of swapping my components onto it. I have one of those quill type to threadless converters....but I hate how it looks with the silver threaded headset, and my carbon stem/ handlebars.....just doesn't look right at all....
