The correct word is dominant. It is easy to pick up the misuse, there are disturbingly many who are native English speakers who make the same mistake. (And often come off like thay know everything).
It also is the lind of mistake that seems out of place coming from you, slvoid. At least to my 'ears' it is the mistake of your group b (or more correctly the white version thereof) and does not fit my image of you at all. Thus worth pointing out. I rarely bother pointing out little errors of fools.

About once a year, some starts this type of thread, with typical responses.
I really don't know why someone would even start such threads.
The asian cycling scene is thriving, and is likely already bigger than US cycling.
Velodrome racing is a big sport in Japan, several NA riders go there to make big bucks.
I'm sure some KKK types would never have guessed a Chinese player would be in the NBA.
This guy is short and non-athletic.
Cold spring Harbor research centre used to do eugenic testing in the 20-30s. They would give IQ tests to immigrants at Ellis Island, in english. They concluded, with statistical data that Italians and Poles were mentally ******** due to genetics.
Some parts of the US have not really advanced from that point.
If I were you guys, I would not cite Major Taylor as an example, he was almost choked to death by white-supremists at a US race and had to race in europe after that for his own safety.

Doc, I'm not going to argue with the gist of what you're saying, but puh-lease spare me with the holier than thou 'the US is racist and we're not' Candian BS.
We're not the only North Americans with dirty hands.
Just sayin'

There are parts of the US where it is not safe for an African-American to travel alone, or god-forbid have an inter-racial marriage, in 2006.
There isn't even tolerance for *****exuals in the US.
I only know from my experience in North Carolina where I lived, where I experienced open racism for dating a woman with darker skin (she was from India). I had never experienced anything like that in Canada, but I'm sure Alberta has its stories.

To add to this
I lived in Okinawa japan for 13 months and did A LOT of riding
during that whole time, I only ran into 1 rider, ONE rider on the road that seemed to be local. The catch is that he did not seem to be a native okinawan much less japanese. There was a language barrier so I couldnt get any information from him.
Even asking at the local bike shops, apparently there was only one organized ride on the island that would happen irregularly and it was just a touring ride with less than a dozen riders.
I did hear of track type racing (not in an actual track) in a park in Naha but never checked it out
I later went to sasebo japan and nagasaki for 8 days and while I didnt see any riders on the road, I visited a keirin which was an incredible experience. From what I gathered though, a keirin rider isnt exactly held in high esteem among the upper class in japan.
My point is, while there are japanese cyclists (speaking as far as places ive visited for an extended period of time) its definately not mainstream as far as I could tell.
Also, when people say asian I believe they commonly (atleast in the US) mean people of mongol stock (that means folks with epicanthic folds), not slavic peoples who originated in europe like vinokourov or arabs, etc

Right on the money. And anybody that says otherwise is being foolish. The tri-state area up their in Tennessee and the Carolinas have some of the most redneck hicks (like smellygary) you'll ever come across. I'm not surprised that you experienced open racism there. They seem to be mostly ok with blacks, but the real hate is towards hispanics and asians.

It's not a good thing to make broad sweeping statements based on your one, limited, experience.
There are parts of THE WORLD where it is not safe for ANYONE to travel alone or god-forbid, have an interracial marriage, in 2006.

The US\Canada are the safest places in the world where you at least have some form of law enforcement and legal protection....no matter how backwoods the local sherrif may be...you still have the FBI to go to and if that fails...there is always CNN's Anderson Cooper to keep them honest.
