Shoes for wider feet
I am in the market for some new shoes as I am tired of my toes going numb after 30 miles or so. I don't have the cash flow for Sidi Megas, so what other brands tend to run a little wider in the toe box?
BTW, I would use the search tool, but for some reason I still can't search by thread titles. Wading though individual posts was making me crazy.
Thanks

I bought a pair of the Louis Garneau tri shoes from Performance. They were actually too wide for my foot, so I am sending them back. You might want to look in to them.

Lake makes a wide shoe. I will say that I put my first pair of Sidi on layaway and took 6 months to pay for them. It was worth the wait.

Performance had the Mega's on sale last week.. they may actually still be on sale at the Performance that just opened here. I bought a pair to replace my Shimano's because I needed something wider. After wearing both, seriously, save your money and buy the Sidi's. They are the most comfortable shoe, biking or regular, that Ive ever worn. It's like wearing nothing on your feet.

I would try out a pair of the Specialized Carbon Pro's. They aren't cheap at $200, but they are less than Sidi's. I find them to be very comfortable, and the Body Geometry fitting seems to keep my feet from getting the hot spots. I'm sold on 'em.

For cheaper prices on Sidi, check out www.probikekit.com. I got my genius's for 150, when they had a 10% off sale. If you buy pedals with them (Keo's are crazy cheap too), then you get them both at 10% off. Free shipping to the US. May want to wait a few weeks, as the exchange rate spiked against us a few days ago. Damn economy!

I tried on the Sidi megas and several others ... the ones that felt best on my feet were the Specialized comps size 47 (not carbon) they were about $125 at lbs and they have been great. The balls of my feet used to get a little squeezed and I would start feeling it over 35 miles. Haven't had a problem with the new shoes (2500 miles or so on them)

I have a pretty wide foot and after wasting money on many different shoes and not liking anything, I ordered a pair of shimano 151 carbons from performance for 149$ in wide sizing. They are great! All my pain is cured! I would highly suggest them. Shimano already makes a wider shoe than most...add with that a wide sized shimano and I think they are very comfy.

P.S. Performance has a 100% satisfaction guarantee and according to the woman I talked to I can wear them for "a couple months and as long as they are not completely torn up, we will take them back for a full refund including shipping costs". That was the seller for me.

Thanks to all for the input. I just ordered a pair of the Shimano 151 carbons from performance. 20% off and $.99 shipping made it a decent deal.
I'll let you know how they fit.

I'm a 13W or 13 E, and my Lakes fit very well.
