Jersey City/Hudson County NJ Cycling
Okay... here's the deal. After a year in New Brunswick, NJ, I've moved north to JC. [Actually, it was more like nine months, since I bolted for home in Montreal as soon as the school year ended.] Anyway, I have no idea where to ride in my new area. One of the few consolations about NB is that there were some good rides around. So... is there anyone from the area who can point me in the right direction, maybe meet up for a ride, or whatever? [I will be back in NJ at the end of August.]
Also... any decent bike shops around?

Hahaha! I grew up in JC. I still live there now in the Greenville area although i'm in the military overseas. Chilltown is still home nawmean? If you hadn't noticed by now, JC ain't Brunswick. Its grimy out there and it seems to have gotten worse especially around my hood. Unless you decided to live in downtown JC then you have no idea how it is in the rough.
Anyway, you're best bet in all honesty is away from here. Don't even think of riding through the Hill, or Curry's woods. Westside has just way too much traffic. 440 is just a hotzone for mack trucks. Even downtown isn't a good place to ride with all the traffic and construction. Liberty State Parks supposed bike route is chock full of cracks and crater and stuff only MTB's should be allowed on. Except by the marina, but then that's a short ride. Try somewhere in Bayonne or Hoboken.
My choice of riding is Edgewater. You'd have to get through JC heights then through Hoboken, but the road by Lincoln Tunnel all the way to Alpine is a blast. Good view too! I can't remember the name of the road, but its along the waterfront where Lincoln harbor is at.
Where part are you in if you dont mind me asking?
