Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ride pic's!

Here are some pictures I took this morning on my daily 35 mile loop

Heading east out of town toward Yellow Springs Ohio

A couple of these hills on the way maybe 3 miles into the ride

Now, we hit a few small rollers

Lots of corn fields..

Dave Chapelle lives here

On the MUP (10 miles of this lie ahead )

Continuing along the MUP headed south...

Self portriat

My LBS near my half way point

Halfway point (Shawnee Park in Xenia Ohio)

Mandatory cockpit shot...

Back on the MUP headed west..

Kil-Kare Speedway. All kinds of racing goes on here. Neat place to stop for a break

Starting a 3 mile climb up North Fairfield road, headed North into Beavercreek.
(I dialed my power up to 86 jigowatts and dropped the poser on the sidewalk with ease )

A couple miles later at the end of the steady climb up N. Fairfield road

Crossing 675

Headed back into town

Back home. (mandatory white garage door shot)

Sorry some of the pictures suck, but I took most of them while moving and the camera is kind of beat.

Heh, we have the same Sigma computer. If you like it, you should try their new digital double wireless. I put it on my folder and really like it. Incredibly easy setup, and it's very forgiving with distances between sensor and magnet, etc. I'm waiting for someone to stock the second bike extra mounting unit...

But on topic... nice pics!

Antelope Island early in the morning. So very nice!

We have an extensive rail-trail system out here. The ones I pictured are in Greene County and are some of the best.

Great shots, I always thought Ohio had some great rides, especially as you head south and east from Colombus. TOSRV is a great ride, and there was another one just south of Columbus whose name escapes me that about killed me. Thanks for the great pics.

HWS, are your bars crooked or is that an optical illusion?

What?! I used to live in Pittsburgh, now I live in Florida. Wanna trade?

Of course, I'll regret it in January....

Isn't that Dave Chapelle's neck of the woods?

Very nice roads HWS, I wish NE OHio was like that, instead we have roads that only Marcus Grunholm could have been sinister enough to drive on. I also see that it's not just me that has flat land. Oh well, I have the RR Valley.

Uhh....not that I had noticed.....then again, I don't notice much

Isn't that Dave Chapelle's neck of the woods?
Yeah. I've seen him walking in town and on the MUP a few times.

The traffic can get heavy, but I have never had a problem with drivers not giving me any room or being rude. It's a pretty bike friendly area IME.

You gonna do Fred's Time Trial tomorrow? If interested pm me. Starts at 8:30.

Nice pics. Many personal Daytonian sufferfests have happened on those roads and paths.
