has anyone had any luck in extending the wiring on a shimano flightdeck (or other computer, for that matter) that is meant to go on the front wheel so that you can actually take readings off the back wheel? i'm looking to get info when my bike is on the trainer, and want to avoid having to buy and run a new computer when the flightdeck works great when i'm riding.

any other ideas, if you have them, would be great.

I've extended the wire harness on lots of computers using speaker wire (easily done), but I've never tried it with a Flight Deck. I've never even cut a Flight Deck harness open to see how many strands are in it. FWIW I'd figure out the pick up mount to the rear wheel before I messed with anything else.

There are no wires in the strand, because it is WIRELESS!

When I bought mine, I asked about putting it on the back wheel. The LBS said the wireless transmitter wasnt strong enough. Kind of sucks, because you cant get cadence when on a trainer.

Not all are wireless.

Buy a second mount kit.

what would a 2nd mount kit do? just to get the exact same wiring?

Mount the sensor on the rear wheel and the mount somewhere on the rear of the bike for riding on the trainer? You could get your data at the end of the ride. If you want data during the ride, well that's another issue.
