Cold Weather Gear
Okay,
It's not cold up here in newengland, yet. I'm wondering what all you hardcore riders sport for cold weather gear. In the past I've just pulled on a pair of spandex over my cycling shorts, and thrown on a windbreaker to let me ride for a few more weeks. I'm thinking of taking the next step, and wondering what advice should be taken / given when going to this next level.
should I get more aggrissive tires on my wheels? (currently vittoria 220 Race Tires, on my 04 Lemond Sarthe)
I'd like to be able to bike till the first snow fall, then transition to my trainer.
I'd search for the answer but it's not available right now...

I'd check the winter cycling forum, I'm sure there are some good threads there.
Last winter, I was able to get away with a warm pair of tights, booties (shoe covers), warm gloves, something to protect your neck, arm warmers, hat, and some long-sleeve jerseys.
