Bikesdirect.com

I'm considering buying a Motobecane Vent Noir from bikesdirect.com and wanted to check with the fellow cyclist on this site to see its a reputable company to order a bike.

Thanks for your help..

Uh, oh! Here we go again... ;)

Grasschopper 08-22-06 10:30 AM

I am guessing the search is still down and we can't just tell the http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeej440/s...res/newbie.gif to do a search?

Joe PLEASE get the search fixed so we don't have to have a new Bikesdirect thread every other day (if not every day).

I believe "every day" is accurate.

jrennie 08-22-06 11:30 AM

short answer:
upside: good product, rebadged name brand frames(i.e. fuji)
downside: no fitting or testing

Trevor98 08-22-06 11:31 AM

Are you questioning the validity of the site as a seller of goods or are you appraising the value of their specific products.

Kenal0 08-22-06 11:36 AM

I believe this time of year, you can do better in the local bike store if you look around so my opinion= not a great deal.

"Rebadged" is misleading. The frames may be made by the same generic Taiwanese or Chinese factories that make Fuji, but that does not mean they were made by Fuji.

Another downside is lots of reports in this forum of shoddy assembly. If you are mechanically competent and have the tools and time, you can probably fix these problems by yourself.

So who's the one "fellow cyclist" that you want to hear from, so the rest of us aren't wasting our time?

I posted the last pie recipe... Anyone have any good ones?

zimbo 08-22-06 11:42 AM

I absolutely love my Moto Le Champion but damned if these obvious shill posts aren't getting extremely annoying. Hey, BD, can't you just let REAL customers do your advertising for you? Or maybe you could--heaven forbid--become a forum sponsor or something.

Sheesh.

I want cake.

jjmolyet 08-22-06 11:57 AM

I am just curious if this has been discussed, what would happen if we just saturated these shill posts with d@mning comments about Moto, Mercier,Windsor, and the new on I can't remember. Wouldn't BD want to stop the 40 or so bad comments for one" newbie just curious about this internet bike" posts. That ratio would do more damage than good, right?

Ah, you've got a point there... A new strategy emerges.

I still want pie. :D

ElJamoquio 08-22-06 12:44 PM

I would post my peach pie recipe, but my mother swore me to secrecy.

ElJamoquio 08-22-06 12:45 PM

Motobecanes are the worst bikes ever. No one would ever buy one if they knew what they were doing.

Yet so many have and are happy!

ElJamoquio 08-22-06 01:16 PM

Semi-sarcasm, DLH. I thought many knew that I was in the 'first round' of Moto purchases.
