Bikesdirect.com
I'm considering buying a Motobecane Vent Noir from bikesdirect.com and wanted to check with the fellow cyclist on this site to see its a reputable company to order a bike.
Thanks for your help.. |
Uh, oh! Here we go again... ;)
|
I am guessing the search is still down and we can't just tell the http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeej440/s...res/newbie.gif to do a search?
Joe PLEASE get the search fixed so we don't have to have a new Bikesdirect thread every other day (if not every day). |

short answer:
upside: good product, rebadged name brand frames(i.e. fuji) downside: no fitting or testing |
Are you questioning the validity of the site as a seller of goods or are you appraising the value of their specific products.
|
I believe this time of year, you can do better in the local bike store if you look around so my opinion= not a great deal.

Thanks for your help.. I posted the last pie recipe... Anyone have any good ones? |
I absolutely love my Moto Le Champion but damned if these obvious shill posts aren't getting extremely annoying. Hey, BD, can't you just let REAL customers do your advertising for you? Or maybe you could--heaven forbid--become a forum sponsor or something.
Sheesh. --Steve |
I want cake.

I am just curious if this has been discussed, what would happen if we just saturated these shill posts with d@mning comments about Moto, Mercier,Windsor, and the new on I can't remember. Wouldn't BD want to stop the 40 or so bad comments for one" newbie just curious about this internet bike" posts. That ratio would do more damage than good, right?

I still want pie. :D |
I would post my peach pie recipe, but my mother swore me to secrecy.

Motobecanes are the worst bikes ever. No one would ever buy one if they knew what they were doing.

Semi-sarcasm, DLH. I thought many knew that I was in the 'first round' of Moto purchases.

Thanks for your help.. Very solid bike. The frame is tough as nails, and well suited for heavier riders or riders who are tough on their bikes. There is a serious issue with tire clearance though. Do NOT expect to fit anything wider than a 700x23c on the bike, as you very well may have problems with rubbing. This is a performance frame, and is meant for racing/club riding...it is not a touring frame, or a sport frame. It is however a rather light frame. I have re-built it as a campagnolo drivetrain bike, and goten it's weight down to 17lbs, so if you do become a weight weeinie, the frame of this bike can deliver. The components that came with it are adequate for anything you need it to do. Just make sure to get the wheels checked up a month or two into using them (new wheels often need a tune shortly after being bought, just a fact of bikes...it's when tunings are often that it becomes something of concern). Either way, pick the bike that best fits your needs, and go have some fun. |
