Newbie, New bike, New pics
Hi all,
A little background info - new to road cycling, have been riding a mountain bike for the past 2 years or so recreationally.
I've had such a blast so far, and have tried to find creative times to ride as my wife and I try to juggle our schedules with work/school and our 8-month old daughter. I am located in Pasadena just a few minutes from the Rose Bowl, so that's where I've gone pretty much to ride. So if you are ever riding there, feel free to ride alongside and say hi. I've found this forum extremely helpful and have learned a lot already, and look forward to contributing in some way. I also look forward to meeting some of the SoCal BFers and riding with them in the near future, as they look like they have so much fun.
On to the ride - Was looking for something entry level as to not break the bank in case I decided it was not for me, yet never considered going the Wal-Mart route as I wanted a somewhat fair assessment of the sport and felt that decent equipment is a good way to start. Test rode the Trek 1000, Fastback Sport, OCR3, Specialized Allez and Allez Sport. Ended up with the Allez Sport as I liked the feel/fit as well as the Tiagra compared to Sora components. And as it was a 2006, I got a pretty killer price on it from my LBS. Got the bike a week and a half ago, and have put almost 100 miles on it, so I'm late to the bandwagon of posting pics. Better late than never, though! Please excuse the dirt, as pics were taken right after a morning ride today.
Just a few mods/accessories:
Crank Brothers Candy C pedals
Cateye Micro Wireless
Alloy cages
Saddle bag w/ spare tube, etc.

Sweet pics. Make more porn, thanks.
FYI: Try without the dork rings, wheel reflectors and put it on the big chainring.

Shooting a white bike is a bit on the harder side as I have to find a background that doesn't wash it out and allows it to stand out some. Maybe I should visit my local IKEA early one morning to utilize their blue walls . . .
As pointed out by various members, I will reshoot the bike once wheel reflectors are removed and will put it in the big chainring. Stay tuned.
Thanks to all for the positive comments!

Will get updated pictures - wheel reflectors removed, alloy bottle cages swapped for a pair of Tacx Tao's, and working on getting the dork disk off.
Here's a pic of the rig that carries the bikes -
(I know that I need a shorter fairing, but I just put the 44" that I had on my other car on for now while I wait to pony up the $50+ for the 38")

It's nice to see that somebody else has transferred from Mountain Biking to Road Cycling. Excellent pics. I got bit by the bug myself, now I just have to find the time to ride the Mtbike. LOL

Forget the roof rack. Makes sense if you need to drive to your trailhead, but if you live a few minutes from the Rose Bowl, why not just RIDE there. The Rose Bowl loop is such a short loop (3 miles). You have to do like 10 laps to get a decent work out anyway.
