The 2006 Endless Summer Watermelon Ride is scheduled for September 10, 2006. This will be our first Watermelon Ride starting at the Equestrian Center located at 13611 Normandy Blvd., 32221. We are very excited about the new facilities which include huge men's and women's restrooms which can each accommodate 55 people. We also have parking for up to 1000 cars. Bring your bathing suit and a towel and take a cool dip after the ride in the olympic size pool. Shower facilities are also available.
Brief Description: The North Florida Bicycle Club is proud to present the 17th annual Endless Summer Watermelon Ride, a classic one-day bicycle event designed for the experienced road rider, the touring cyclist, the intermediate and the beginner cyclist. In other words, all bicyclists are welcome. The route distances are 30, 45, 65, 80 and 103 miles and primarily traverse lightly traveled country roads.
Fees: $25 for members or $30 for non-members. Optional membership dues are $20 individual or $25 family.
Online Reg. Closes: September 6, 2006 Noon EST
Start Times for each ride: Riders doing the 65, 80 and 103 mile routes will start at 7:30 AM.
Riders doing the 30 or the 45 mile routes will start at 8:30 AM.
Ride Route Descriptions: The details of the routes have not been totally completed, but we will have a short 20-30 mile route and longer routes of about 45, 69, 75 and 105 miles. .
Registration Periods: To register and receive a free event t-shirt, you must register online by Monday, August 28th. There is a late on-line registration period from August 29th to Sept 6th, but you do not get a free t-shirt during this registration period. After the late on-line registration ends on Sept 6th, you can only register the day of the ride which will cost $35 and does not include a t-shirt.
Normal On-line Registration ends August 28th: Register by Monday, August 28th and a free event T-shirt is included in your registration fee. You can order extra event T-shirts at $10.
Late On-Line Registration: If you do not register when the Normal On-line registration period ends on August 28th, you can register during the "Late On-line Registration" period from August 29th to Sept 6th. The fees are the same as the Normal On-line Registration period, but a free T-shirt is not included. Members save $10 and non-members $5 compared to the day-of-ride fee.
Day of Ride Registration $35: If you do not register by the time Late On-line Registration ends on Sept 6th, you can register in person on the morning of the ride. We will accept all day of ride registrations. The price for all day of ride registrations is $35 (cash or check only - no credit cards accepted) for all riders (members and non-members alike) and does not include a T-shirt.
Club Membership: If you are not a club member and want to join the club, you will receive the reduced ride registration fee of $25. If your club membership is expired or about to expire, you can renew your membership. To pay club dues when you register for the ride, simply select the "Ride Fee plus Individual Membership" category or the "Ride Fee plus Family Membership" category.
Family Registrations: You can only register one rider at a time. To register another family member, you must repeat the process.
If You Cannot Attend and Still Want Your T-shirt: If for some reason you cannot attend the ride after registering, you can pick up your t-shirt at the next scheduled Tuesday NFBC club meeting or have someone pick it up at the ride for you. Otherwise, it becomes the property of the club.
No Rain Date: No rain date and no refunds
Nearby Lodging: There is a Hampton Inn at near interstate 10 at 548 Chaffee Point Rd, phone 904-783-8277. There is also a Days Inn in Macclenny, 904-259- 5100.
Event support: Enjoy a wonderful bike ride with pre-ride snacks, rest stops, a post-ride lunch, mechanical support, motorcycle safety *******, marked routes, maps, and roving sags. The post ride lunch starts at 11:00 AM.
Massage: Enjoy a professional massage after the ride by Glen Morey, LMT for a nominal fee.

The longer rides start an hour earlier and I think you can start as soon as you are registered. All the routes are marked. I'll be working two reststops. We are moving one mid-ride, so it will be the "portable" reststop. When you get to the one with the gourmet snacks, I'll be there. We hope to have fresh squeezed lemonade again, too.
