Looking for a good deal on a Bianchi veloce
I'm starting a new thread hopefully to help those newbies like myself looking for a good deal or our dream bikes. Right now my eyes are set on a Bianchi Veloce as a first road bike, thanks to insight from many here in the forums, if anyone knows of any great deals i.e. under $1,500 let me know. Thanx

Fishie,
I think the Veloce lists for about $1450. Although it is always nice to save some bucks, I would rather pay more and get a bike from a good supportive shop. If I wanted to spend less, I think I would get the Campione at $1100 - same frame, steel fork, mix of Veloce and some lesser, but still Campy, components. Then you could upgrade to a carbon fork later and components here and there. I guess it's just a matter of personal approach.
FWIW,
Raymond

Rainman, your adivce as always is sound, and I agree with you completely. But....being that I'm in college and paying for it myself, money is a luxury I am not always graced with.
I feel that many people tend to underestimate the power of the internet, and the options it provides to the consumer. For instance, doing little bit of searching led me to a place in CA who was selling them for a little over $1,000. Also ebay has the tendancy to have deals occassionally, however I'd rather not buy one from there unless I had a good talk with the seller.
basically, if getting it elsewhere for oh....$400 cheaper, I'm sorry....thats books for the fall semester
Again I totally agreee with you...if I had the money, I would buy it from the LBS with the best service.

You are right, Fishie! $400 savings is a serious deal. I must admit I would be sorely tempted at that kind of savings. I thought we were talking $100-200 which would hardly be worthwhile after shipping and assembly.
