Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lemond Versailles?

LBS has a '06 Lemond Versailles at closeout of $999 regular price was $1799, it is the three chainring version and in my size. Anyone have an opinion on this bike other than "I hate Greg Lemond".

Hell of a price reduction.

I really, really like, even love, steel LeMonds. Of course yours is carbon and the only experience I have with carbon is forks. However, LeMond geometry works well for me and that should carry over to a carbon bike as well.

I think LeMond is AOK but I'm older

Sounds like a good deal.

I have the Maillot Jaune. The bike has a long top tube so it doesn't fit everyone. The ride and handling is fantastic. It's too bad Lemond quit building the steel carbon frame bikes. I'd highly recommend buying one.
