Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I know you were asking about Castelli vs Assos, I thought I would weigh in on the Assos.

I wanted to echo the above, the Microsensor and Aero Bibs and Shorts have the 3D-PRO red chamios, it is thiner and fits better, less slipping and chafing. I like the fit better and can ride longer in them, then my Ultrasesnor or Castelli bib's. Oh and forget shorts, bibs are better. Just learn how to pull up the leg like the pro's to take a leak.

Actually they both are bibs, I just call them shorts because I forget to make the distinction, seeing as I only wear Bibs, except for when I'm MTB'ing, then I wear baggy style cycling shorts

Let's just say I've been using a lot of Desitin lately (yes, the stuff you put on babies' butts), and have halted all "shaving activities" down there....

Wow, I'm on a roll tonight. Must be the cold medicine.

FWIW, ...had castelli's, had PI's,
...really do prefer the PI's.

OK Viper, if the PI's are so comfortable, then why did you wear the Assos when you rode your century last weekend?

nice try.

we both know why you chose to wear the PI's for 62 miles and the Assos for 100 miles: you're smart enough to wear the best when you need it.

I was actually wondering if it was a smart move as I know my PI's are more comfy.. As I was dressing for the 100miler, I was waffeling. I really wanted the Assos to be my go to shorts, so despite my inner voice to ride the PI's, I chose the the F1's thinking I'm going to suffer anyway. I suppose it's inconclusive, however my butt was sore towards the end of the ride in the F1's

Try Adidas AdiStar bibs. I have them as well as PI Ultrasensor shorts and the AdiStar's are my favorite. The bibs I bought in April had a read chamois and I jsut bought two pairs of 3/4 length nickers and they have a blue chamois. I was worried at first that they changed something that worked so well but the new blue ones are even nicer than the red one. A bit thinner and just as comfy on long rides. They also wear very well. I have about 700 miles on my AdiStar bibs from April and they still look new. I also have LG Ergosensor bibs and they're great.

Another data point on sizing... I have medium PI Ultrasensor shorts and my Adidas bibs and nickers are medium as well, as are my LG bibs.

I've picked up a couple of the Sportful Tour bibs at Performance and absolutely love them. Also, they won't break the bank at $90 on sale.
