Just so everyone knows, if you responded to the ADK group buy with interest, your interest will not transfer to the PF buy unless I hear from you. With the (seemingly) additional costs, I wouldn't want to assume anything.

Also, I agree with WW. As Glen has the current connections to at least get a few, he may find this proposal interesting. Heck, if it gets pulled off well on his end, there'll be alot of happy BF members singing his praises and directing more business his way. BTW, WW, he has posted on the forum prior and contacted me with a PM when I showed interest in his product and he had one on ebay.

Oh, you're welcome. I started watching TV and my curiosity got the better of me. So I started the list before it became unweldly.

Anyway, if this does get fractured any more (i.e. interest by Glen) I may stop until things settle down and we have a game plan. I was trying to see how close we were with the 100 required for ADK then the other options started appearing. I would hate to assume that if we went with Glen (BF ID: sgwheelman), that people would automatically want to switch. It seems some jumped on board because of the PF name so that would need to be a new list. Oh, the humanity!

I'll send him a PM to see if there's interest in joining the fray.

Anyway, today's update:

I am not on the list. Please add me. I will go $550 or less for the PF/BF group buy shipped with fork.

If you add another option into the mix, this is never going to happen. We need to pick a direction and just do it. If Glen can't give a considerably better deal than Pedal Force, I dont see the point. $550.00 with fork is going to be tough to beat considering they are a real company and you get a real waranty.

+ 1

I would like to see a new thread started for those interested in only the PF deal of $550.00 for frame and fork. An accurate count of buyer's could be made to see if it will get to the required 100 purchases.

The PF deal is going to be hard to beat.

I think we should drop the direct from ADK out of the picture. Too many people see the $270 price and think that's all it will cost, not wanting to figure in the cost of a fork or overseas shipping then boxing and domestic shipping, warehousing, tariffs and customs fees. What if a frame was damaged during shipping? What about warranty? That $270 frame looks less and less attractive to a group of people that have no experience dealing with overseas vendors.

It would be nice to firm up a number, even if it's less than 100, put a timeframe on it, say two weeks as an example, and then submit it for bid between Glen and Ming. I see this as the only way it will really happen.

Yeah I agree with the above that the 270 price is just the start of the ADK price. If you take the 270 and just add say the 150 fork that pedal force is including at 550, you're already at $420 for the ADK with no warranty and that still doesn't include the taxes, shipping from Taiwan, then shipping from US to your door. All in all, if you go with a cheaper fork, you'll only be saving maybe 50? after all is said and done on the ADK? I'd say warranty is worth about $50 for a carbon frame. Sorry just my .02

Interesting, this is the geometry of the AKFMO3 frame that I received from ADK (converted from AutoCAD format).

Hmm, where have I seen that exact picture before?

I have no problem with dropping the ADK off the list. I will temporarily keep it as there hasn't really been any action on it lately anyway.

I will continue to collect names but we may have been premature in doing such as we're still determining our ultimate direction. Once direction is found, I think we should start a new thread with the final information on what we are ordering and who's interested.

Not to confuse things, but there was mention of Leader. Has anyone contacted it?

so i decided to zone out for a few days and i missed 4 pages of this. is this now a PF buy and not a ADK buy? Regardless, at $550 for a qs2s (NEKKKKKKKED) w/ matching fork, how can you say no? I guess throw my name into the PF column instead of the other, due to warranty and fork perks through PF

We are not atalking about the same frame here. I would not consider the Leader frame the same as ADK/PF/Glen. I suggest we forget about Leader for the moment. Not interested in a Leader carbon frame whatsoever.

I contacted leader. Not gotten any reply though, I contacted them through their Leaderbike store contact form yesterday though. Plus, they are 3 hours behind.

It might be worth checking out other options as well, perhaps Leader can offer us a better price. If they sell each frame individually at 600, they can probably do below 500 if they are willing to do a group buy. They are right in the USA, their frames have excellent reviews. I owned one of their aluminum frames a while ago, was very pleased with quality.

Also,
Lifetime warranty!

I had said that I could account for three possibles with ADK. With a $550 frame + fork + shipping PF deal, I can account for one "highly probable" (a friend newbie to cycling who is very much interested).

I also own a leader TT frame, it is just about like every other Asian Aluminum bike on the market. Not spectacular but not a piece of crap either, and at a very good price. But this thread and my original QS2S thread was looking at a Monocoque carbon frame which is not what Leader is. If there is some interest in the Leader let's look at a second buy not change the parameters of this one. Also don't forget to add a fork as Leader sells their frames sans fork, I believe they charge 140 for their fork.

And one more for that $550 frame + fork carbon goodness (size 61, preferably logoless).

Sounds good so far...

I will be in for one PF frame...

Here is a repost of my proposed contact method with ming at pedal force...

"Using Ming as our distributor would be an excellent idea and his offered price of $550. frame, fork shipped sounds unbeatable. Ming could save us from doing any work at all..

Here's how... we ask ming to set up a bikes forum log book. Each member then calls ming, gives him their frame size, address and credit card info, and mentions the bikeforums special. When the number of entries in the log book hits 100, bam everyone gets charged and all frames get shipped. All each of us has to do is make one phone call and wait.

To facilitate the smoothness of this transaction we should establish rules for the special deal as to not piss ming off; we agree to only order the QS2-s frame and fork and anyone who calls for the special cannot barter for additional deals. If you want componets etc. you will have to follow regular PF procedures via their web site. Also placing an order should be considered contractual, and backing out should be discouraged. Anyone paying by cash would send a money order which would only be cashed upon completion of the 100 frame contract.

We appoint a single contact to deal with ming on this issue, that person will contact ming once per week and post the number of orders placed so far in this thread to give everyone an idea of where we stand.

This should make an attractive and workable situation for ming."

Our running spread sheet makes a good marker for our interest but would be of little use to ming as it does not contain any necessary information to complete an order.

Using this method no one has to leave any vital information with anyone except ming, who I can assume is trustworty.

We just need to decide on a date when we will begin making our phone calls, which will be when our spreadsheet hits one hundred.

Thoughts?

Would he not then have to take down credit card info from 100 people over an unspecified period of time and then have to re-enter that information into a credit card system, ship the things individually, etc. This would not be a group buy, this would be a series of 100 regular sales of the PF frame at a discounted price.

True..

But those frame sales would be motivated by this group incentive and probably would not have happened otherwise (to rephrase, it is a group order because no one gets didly untill the order reaches 100). If the time frame is an issue, it is up to us to motivate our group to be able to place all the orders within a week or some other specified time period. If we cannot have that level of organization, dreams of a direct import of frames on our own behalf are far fetched at best.

The only other option is to trust a BF member with the collection of our information by phone or email (certainly you don't want to post it) and then for that member to fax the information simultaneously to PForce.

I still believe, in my humble opinion, that the system I suggested is best, provided we have 100 members CONFIRMED for the buy before we begin calling ming.
