Flyte SRS-3s on ebay even cheaper! (99.99)

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I did have a WTF moment when I was putting the bike into the trunk. The fork has the lawyer tabs on the tips, which I never even thought about. I've been riding a custom frame that didn't have them for 11 years and forgot those things even existed.

What are you putting on your SRS-3?
Aren't you doing Veloce too? Where did you find all that for 180??
10% off of Totalcycling's price will cover their shipping. Not a bad deal. I am doing 2007 Veloce, but as I mentioned earlier I am going to wait to get it from Probikekit. I pieced it together at their current pricing and estimated their crank pricing (only thing they are missing) and it looks like it will be under $450-$470ish with free shipping to the US. Might have to split it up to aid in the journey through customs, etc....but it's a good deal.....

HA! That was the first thing I have done for this build...file off the lawyer tabs. Did it the night I got the fork. I despise them. I'll post pics later...

Alright, here are a few pics of my build. I have an Easton EC70 seatpost coming next week along with carbon cages. I will probably end up cutting the fork to 10-15mm of stack height. I've only done one ride on it. The ride is good although the bar/stem combo is very stiff. I'm 240 lbs and I can't fathom flexing these things in a sprint.

8-speed Dura-Ace with Flyte bar/stem, Turbomatic 3 saddle, Mavic Ksyrium Elites, Vredestein Fortezza SE tires.

To finish off the black & blue color scheme (my favorite) I picked up these shoes online for $100.

What rear derailleur is that? Almost looks like a 8sp DuraAce.

Great looking build and those shoes are the perfect crowning touch.

Very nice job Dial Tone! The tires and saddle look great and with your new shoes, you're totally color keyed. Have you ridden it yet?

I had been using Continentals, but I put those on as soon as I saw your bike. I have only ridden around the parking lot. The bars/stem feel extremely stiff.

I've got about 600 miles on the crank. Sometimes it's a little slow getting on the big ring but nothing I didn't expect with such a big jump. I do think a 36/50 would be a better combo overall but I need every inch I can get. I would prefer the K-Force but only because of cosmetic differences.

My fork is the Flyte fork, although there is some debate over whether these are the 2006 or 2007 forks. The one on the website appears to have a different shape. It does have pretty nice finish though.

I am REALLY interested to see what that fork looks like on this frame. I almost bought a HP Pro, but ended up getting the Ouzo instead. The rest of the build sounds very simular to what I have planned. I've been considering the XR-1 wheels instead of the Ventos, but I've heard mixed reviews on them so far.

The fork is actually different from every picture I've been able to find on the internet. It's a straight blade fork, and I think it's going to look very nice on the bike. It also seems a lot lighter than the 520g it's advertised to be. I'll take a picture for your viewing pleasure once I'm back in my dorm.

Is the black paint on the frame glossy? or matte? It looks nice in your photos. I like your silver wheels better than black ones. Black wheels look heavy, JMO.

What do you think of the bar's bend? I can't get used to the tiny flat section on the drops.

It is very glossy and i've used ergonomic handlebars for a long time. I ride the hoods 90% of the time anyway.

Blandin, the thing I like about your frame is the more gentle slope top tube. I am not crazy about sloping TT's to begin with; anything more than 6-7 degrees just looks dumb to me....I think it's a vanity thing. What size is your frame and what is your inseam?

I'm fairly sure I can lay claim to having the first SRS-3 on the summit of Le Mont Ventoux... That makes my SRS-3 pretty damn sexy. More photos soon to come in my upcoming honeymoon thread...

And here's our cute couple of SRS-3's stopping for some wine in Chateauneuf-Du-Pape. For anyone who wants a good training device to keep your back straight on rides, try 4 bottles of wine. They'll dig into your spine quite nicely if you arch your back too much...

That looks a very different than the ones that my LBS has in stock. How much does it weigh? I'm sure someone in the dorms has a gram scale you could borrow, just follow your nose(patchouli) or listen for the guys playing Phish or Sublime.
