You apparently haven't seen ViperZ's build threads have you....?
Promise I'll post even more indepth build threads in the future too. Oh, and there's a few links to some build threads (not Flytes) here: https://thecuda.com/BikeForums.htm

If I can sell this:
For what I think I can get out of it then I should have enough for wheels. Right now my list of options looks like this:
1) Campagnolo Vento
2) Campagnolo Scirocco
3) Fulcrum 5 Evolution
4) Xero XR-1
Instead of making the list smaller, I've been expanding (adding the Scirocco) and shifting (leaning back towards the XR-1 again). I just don't know what wheelset will fill my needs the best. I need something fairly durable and reliable but reasonable weight and looks too without breaking the budget.

Well, the Fulcrums as I understand it are made by campy too. I grabbed a pair of the Alta Races, and they look phenomenal.

Yup, Fulcrum is a Campagnolo house brand. So I'm at three pairs of Campagnolo mid-profile wheels, and some ultra low spoke count deep V wheels. Odd mix huh? I'd considered the Alta Races, but the campy ones never went on quite enough of a sale.

I think the XR1's are among the best bang for the buck. You get some pretty good quality for 200 dollars, I was surprised (in a good way) when I opened the box.

PC2 - I'd like to see a set of XR-1's in person. They're on the lower end of the price range I"m looking at right now and I'm a bit concerned about the durability of 16/20spoke wheels. I'll be putting in weekly rides with the club on this bike predominately, and don't want to break a spoke or something in the middle of nowhere on one of the rural roads we ride. (I managed to break a spoke on a 36spoke box rim wheel on my last club ride! ) I spotted a pair of Fulcrum 5's at the LBS today (they wanted $450 for them, ebay price is $255 I believe) and they looked pretty good. Probably a very simular rim to the mid-size Campagnolo rim on the Vento.

I got mine for 229 from Cambria, they price matched the Shimano ones.
Edit-Anyone got suggestions for some wheels to slap on my dad's Flyte? This will be his first roadie, so it's not like he needs to break the bank. I was thinking of the just the usual Open Pro/Ultegras, or maybe some CXP33/ultegras. I had some CXP33s that I liked a lot. He's certainly not huge. He ways in at around 200 on a heavy day. I'd be tempted to go the Alta Race or XR-1 route for him, but I do wonder about either of those at 200 pounds.

Way too complicated for something so easy.

Hey so I had time finally to play with this and I realized that my headset did not come with bearing sets. I got the headset from Flyte, and I am wondering if anyone else had this problem. Or are the bearings integrated or something? All I have in my headset kit are the silver and bronze washers, the top cap, and that other topseal piece. Also am I using the compression plug in leiu of the top cap given in my kit?
thanks for the help guys!

Anyone want a 60cm SRS-3 frame with the Flyte fork and an EC70 Zero post?

tekhna - I certainly got my bearings from Flyte with my FSA headset. If you are using a fork with carbon steerer tube - yes you definately want to use the compression plug! I'd give Flyte a call direct and inform them that you are missing the pieces. I'd bet they'll send you a set out asap.
DrPete - 60cm is too big for me, but good luck on finding a buyer. You are certainly replacing it with a very nice frame!

Yeah, I'm undecided on what to do with the frame. It'd be nice to build up a beater/commuter bike, but the frame won't take a 25c tire.
They really trashed the resale value of my bike by putting them on clearance like that, though... Oh well, I think I'll get over it once I build up the F4:13.

Well, I just got my 2007 Veloce groupset from totalcycling, along with some Keo classics! Pictures to follow if I can find my card reader.

Check inside the frame--It's an integrated headset.
If they're not in there, though, call Flyte and they'll hook you up.

It's integrated, but the only thing that should be in the frame should be the cups. look inside and see if you see a bearing with a blue seal inside the frame.

I set mine up with 25c tires (Michelin Pro 2 Race), and they roll perfect, no interference at all with the frame.

I cut my fork down yesterday and replaced the Flyte seatpost with my previous Ritchey Comp. It has a bit more setback. I left a 1cm spacer but I really don't even need that so it may end up on top eventually.
I was going to put new Ultegra on here but if I end up buying a QS2-S I'll put it on there instead. It appears the only other changes I'll make here are carbon cages, a lighter saddle and a Niobium 30 wheelset......which would require upgrading this bike to 10-speed. dohhh .
She's 18.6 lbs as shown according to my home digital scale; however the bike shop scale said 19.75 lbs. Neither seem right. The bike shop weighed my previous bike at 20.5 and the Flyte frame and uncut fork alone were 1.2 lbs lighter than the old. I saved 50 grams with the bars and probably another 100 grams over my old chromoly stem. I cut a good chunk off the fork and I could knock 3 inches off the seatpost. I'm gonna split the diff and call it 19.0 lbs.
Forgot to post my shoes - Nike Poggio III's, some carbon headset spacers and a couple "I support drug free sport" wristbands.
