Is this bike worth it?
TREK 2100 Carbon Fiber/Aluminum Road Bike with Aluminum Forks. The bike is in very good shape. The TREK 2100 Pro has Shimano 105 components, and Matrix ISO C-11 700c Rims. The frame size is 56cm. There are a few scratches, the worst being a rub on the fork, but nothing else is major. For a detailed list of components please see below. Please email me with any questions. Thanks!
Components:
• Frame: 56cm carbon main tubes with aluminum rear triangle and fork
• Shimano 105 Front and Rear derailleurs
• Hubs are Maillard (a French brand)
• Shimano 105 Brake Levers
• Shimano 105 Braks
• Shimano 105 Front and Rear Hubs
• Rims Matrix ISO C-11 700c
• Shimano 105 Shifters
• Shimano SG Chainring
• SR Sakae Handle Bars
• Vetta USA Seat
• Profile Aero Bars (Not in picture)
• Continental Ultra 3000 Tires
$250. I would rather not ship, but quotes are availible for serious inquiries.
its in my cheap price range....better then buying a new trek 1000?

You can try for sure. There is always someone that would bite at that price.

I'd get some photos of it before seriously considering it.
It doesn't seem like a great deal (but not a bad one), but consider offering him $200 and see if he bites.

I think you have the main tubes and frame/stays backwards. ZR9000 Alu /w carbon stays and fork.

There's a sticky at the top of the Road Cycling forum for under $700 road bikes. If you sift through that, you'll see some answers to noobie questions. I'd suggest looking at that to educate yourself more before making a purchase.

I have that exact bike but it is a 61 cm. It is incredibly comfortable on long rides. I also have a roubaix and would rate this bike just below it on overall owner satisfaction. The 105 is just fine on this bike, mine is a triple.

Ugh, down tube shifters. If you are fine with that, go for it. It's hard (at least here) to find a used b-rifter bike (shifters are also brake levers, much easier/better) for a reasonable price. In my mind, a new trek 1000 is a better deal if you have the budget and if you know you want a decent bike.

The 2100 series bikes use carbon tubes joined by aluminum lugs. Later, the lugs were changed to carbon fiber. Trek is still building their OCLVs this way. I ride with two guys that have this frame and like them a lot. One was even set back to Trek last year for refinishing and came back looking like brand new. If you get the bike, upgrade to a carbon fork and STIs and you'll have a sweet ride for a third of the price of a new Trek 5200.

Overall, if it is good condition and fits you, it is a good deal. I had a 2100 that I bought used, and rode it for a year before selling it. It was a very nice riding bike. I still see alot of them on the road around here, so they seem pretty durable, as well.
Mine had the RSX STI shifters, though. It was a 7 speed bike with a double. I ended up selling it on CL for $400, and had more than a few inquiries at that price.

Are you local? Definitely worth a visit- sounds like a great bike for $250. Is it worth buying and shipping? Maybe not- is there much of a used market in your area (check craigslist, etc.).
