I thought recent Alpe d'Huez models were all aluminum and/or rear carbon stays. Now it's half-and-half. Took one for a test ride and it's friggin sweet, more compliant than the all aluminum Nevada City I've got. Can't see how it's been ruined as you say. The paint job looks better in person too.

I bought an '06 Versailles in March and absolutely love it. I love the look, the feel, and it was such a step up from my "beast" (Trek 7500) that I have a hard time wiping the silly grin off my face every time I ride it.

My opinion is that now they're becoming treks. They had a unique flavor and feel but the new bikes, while good, well built bikes, have lost that uniqueness.

Love my '06 Zurich. Would certainly consider a new min/max frame. It seems the new Madones look a lot like the min/max Lemonds. There are a bunch of the '07 Madone's that will be sold very cheap when the '08 comes out soon.

My Maillot Jaune. ~2003? When they were still all 853 with CF fork. Custom build, mostly Chorus 10 with a few mods to accommodate my needs following a motorcycle accident. I like the new decals better.

2002 or 2003 Lemond Tete-de-Course titanium with reynolds ouzo pro fork.
I stripped the saturn paintjob... maybe a stupid move but I think it looks better naked.
I don't know how I feel about the new bikes, to me they seem less racy and more 'club-ride' than the slighltly older bikes. (madone).

I wish they kept the Carbon/Steel spine bikes. It was unique, and gave quite a different ride than other bikes.
They are now essentially to Trek as Mercury is to Ford. Nothing unique or special.
I will never get a Lemond again.

I have a Carbon/Steel bike and love it. I'll get another Lemond, as long as it's titanium!

The fact that Lemond doesn't make the Carbon/Steel bikes anymore just makes me want to keep mine forever. It's fun having a bike that has a short run and you can date it easily.

Of the decals I've seen on road bikes, I guess I like those on my '03 Victoire Ti alright, but truth be told, I'd rather just have a bear Ti frame. I'm pretty utilitarian that way though. As for the rest of a bike... well... I critique frames on how they're built and fit, and what more does a bike manufacturer do besides that? Bolt some components that someone else made up? I can do that myself. I haven't paid attention to brands of complete bikes for a long time (road or mountain), just the frame and the components.

I considered a Lemond for my upcoming first brand new bike purchase but I just wasn't inspired or excited by the colour schemes or shape. They appear to me as being very traditional and classic in shape which may suit those looking for something understated and classy. I will be buying a Bianchi because its more vibrant and filled with more joie de vivre for the sport. Each to his own.

I bought my '07 Zurich because the 55cm size fit me better than a 54 or 56 in Specialized, Cervolo, cdale, or Felt. And it is stiff - climbs and descends really well. I swapped the wheels for Dura-ace 7801s and it makes for a pretty sweet ride. The silver/black isn't bad, but I was buying performance and fit not style anyway.
