There was a decal on the frame stating what type of tubing this is (reynolds, columbus, hi-tensile steel,etc..) but it was removed......any idea? Also, was this bike made in Austria? Thanks.

And how about anodized parts (aka bike jewelry)? I know my bike wasn't the only one with purple anodized bottle cages, chainring bolts, seatpost bolt, and skewers.

Seems to indicate Reynolds 531. My Puch Marco Polo had Reynolds 531. The side shot of the sticker (that you say is now gone) in the first photo you provided Doesn't look like the old Reynolds 531 sticker. I'm thinking its some kind of "Chromoly" steel sticker. My wife's old Puch Pacifica had a sticker like that. For another clue, tell us, what quality level are the dropouts on your bike? And what about the quality of the seat lug? If these are top quality you've probably got 531. Based on the mid level components on your bike, its kind of hard to tell. You might migrate this discussion to Classic and Vintage, I remember seeing threads on Puch and Austro Daimler where they have links to old catalogs from the 1980's. I'll bet you could find the catalog reprint online for that year and model and your query will be put to rest.

If it is an '88, it has triple butted cro-mo. Here is the spec sheet:https://www.bulgier.net/pics/bike/Cat...r/88/specs.JPG

I have a 1977 Puch Marco Polo that I used for touring in the late 70's. It has a Reynolds 531 sticker, however I also remember the seat & chain stays being plain gauge steel.
