Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your right, my bad. I don't believe the brands named aside from Calfee make fully CF bikes much less custom CF.

How can he say the ad isn't a bash on anyone? How stupid does he think we are? I mean, it's obviously associating the Cervelo "e" with mediocrity. How would he like for a rival company to call Litespeeds mediocre?

You can get across the message that your bikes are unique without bashing someone else. Just point out what it is about them that is so unique.

Is it me or has this been one long stream of generalizations after another? I mean come on, there are in fact poorly manufactured ti bikes just like carbon, there are REALLY stiff Ti bikes just like carbon, there are noodle like/poor handling ti bikes just like carbon, and both Ti and carbon can be fixed to a certain degree. Making sweeping generalizations about a bikes properties based on material is just silly talk. The qualities we all attribute to the ride and such is more a factor of design and not material. As for the decals, if one really looks at the add it's not just a cervelo "e" rather an aggregate of fonts used by cervelo, cannondale, pinerello, and probably a few more I failed to mention but what it doesn't do is call any one single company out. It's just sarcastic humor; some folks are just a tad bit sensitive. As for why pros ride what they ride, it's because they get paid to ride them not because one is superior to the other. In fact I believe Levi's personal bike (and now Floyd’s) is both steel (a custom Land shark and Pegoretti) versus carbon or Ti. I think we all really know that all the above companies make damn fine bikes reguardless of materials and who rides them.

Car companies do this on a daily basis. It's standard advertising and wouldn't be a big deal if Litespeed hadn't sold carbon frames 2 years ago. I ride a ti one and cringe when I think of the guy that dropped income tax coin on their carbon Litespeed and see this 2 years later. How would us ti guys feel if they dumped and started dogging ti in favor of aluminum? Still this is page 4 about this?

How would you feel if you dropped some $30,000 for a gas guzzling truck and now that car company is touting fuel efficienct cars only? Things and priorities do change.

I do hear you though and I can assure you that everyone who bought an aluminum or carbon version Litespeed bought a good bike and is happy with it. It is a change of direction for us and we sought to point out with humor that we are going back to our roots. Plus that is really what most consumers wanted from us, fine handcrafted titanium bikes.

Cheers,

Herbert

The carbonello ad campain is dry humor. Has anybody caught on to the new style of advertising?
Its clever, and has turned into a 5 pager here on BF. Thats what ads are supposed to do. Make a stir. Lightspeed is no longer the "frame du jour", and is attempting rather effectivily to become relevant again.

Why has no one started *****ing about the Titus ads. I mean come on, do we really need hidden sexual meaning in our bike ads.

<and for those that cannot percceive hidden humor(as it seems from this thread), my tongue is firmly in my cheek>

A few years ago Easton used to have ads showing a "big scandium shark eating little titanium fish", and "scandium shooting holes in titanium." We actually sell their forks on our bikes as we speak.

Why does Tennessee have to be so long and skinny? I thought I'd make a side trip to the factory the next time I was in Memphis, but that may be a bit of a detour.
