Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What is Floyd riding?

Floyd is riding this bike in his training camps, looks like all aluminum, no carbon. Anyone recognize the maker from the head tube decal?

"Why do they lock petrol station bathrooms?" incidates it might be from the UK.

What is that, a Nexus hub? Is that good for training?

Is Cycleops his new sponsor or is that something he got from Goodwill?

I notice Floyd is using the R600DuraAce death grip on the handlebars.

Thanks. I've not been paying attention to any Landis news because I figured it would all be about the doping allegations.

Pergoretti's are handmade, like many frames, use pre-made tubing, like many frames, and have similar geometry.

Other than the art-and-crafts paint jobs, what is the appeal of these frames over many other aluminum frames??

Pegoretti was a gift to Landis from the good people at Saris.

Well i like the uniqueness of my Pegoretti....i've only seen one other pegoretti while riding the past two years.

It's kind of like what Nicholas Cage said at the Ferrari dealership in Gone in 60 seconds...."i saw three of these (new Ferrari f40) at the local starbuck and realized there are too many self indulgent wieners in this town...now if i had a 1967 275 GTB four-cam....(sales man) You'd be a connoisseur."

Everyone can own a boring aluminum frame bike from the likes of trek and giant and cannondale and any other mass frame company and you will see your bike 10 times on sunday when you head to starbucks....or you can do it the real way and get something unique and amazing like a Pegoretti. Pictures don't do them justice....when i bought mine i did so because when i walked into the high end bike room at my LBS and among the Colnago C50s and Time VXRSs and Litespeed Ghisallos the Pegoretti outshined all of them.

Is it just me, or is Floyd Landis the LEAST bike racer LOOKING dude you ever saw in the UCI? He looks like he should be on the Pro Bowler's Tour, and that would be a stretch. The best illustration I've EVER seen for 'don't judge a rider by his appearance'. It's guys that look like Floyd that wind up BURYING the USCF field half the time. I can only imagine how dorky he looked on the day of that famous argyle socks story where he showed up wearing them and decimated some Cat 2/3 race.

I can get why people like them, but then you could take a Trek 1000 frame, have it stripped, then send it to a local artist to paint.

Same could be said for the run of the mill carbon and steel bikes. Why not just buy an old huffy (non-serotta) and send it to CycleArt and have it painted to look like a Colnago. But is it really?

He hasn't raced since the tour.

Nah, he doesn't have the hair for the PBA. You know...the comb-over/mullet/bedhead combo.
