As in regular bars with drops that have flat top, or as in base bars for TT bikes?

Regular bars w/drops, flat top...:)

I have the FSA Wing Pro (aluminum), dig it lots.

What's the advantage? Aren't they heavier? Or is it for comfort?

unbelievably 02-19-07 02:25 AM

IMO, comfort...
I find standard round bars too thin to grab,
and I would rather not double wrap.

I have tried Deda Alanera, Cinelli Ram, ITM Ksword. and love them all. But Deda is the stiffest and doesn't look as nice as Cinelli or ITM. They're all very comfortable on the top, but around the bend, ITM Ksword has a better design and I really like it.

I have a pair of the Look flat top bars and they are pretty awesome. I didn't want something that was quite as crazy looking as the FSA or ITM bars but had cable routing so I could do only a partial taping of the bars. They are also quite comfy. I've included a couple of photos, sorry they are so crappy.

I really need to cut my steerer tube.

I had an FSA K-Wing- the ergo drops and long reach weren't for me, so I gave it to my pops. The flat top was nice, though...

I replaced it with an FSA SL-K Compact, and was surprised to find that bar has a flat-top wing shape as well... I love it. If you're into the more traditional "racer bend" drop shape, and like the newer short reach/shallow drop designs, I highly recommend this wing bar... drop is 125mm, reach is 78mm.

They're Fredalicious!

I got a specialized barmac, it's hideous but comfortable as hell...

My Look bars are lighter than my old aluminum FSA bars, but honestly my look bars are just more comfortable than my old aluminum FSA bars (more to do with the shape than the material). The bars have flat tops and the drops are deeper and a little less ergo in shape. I will also admit they are more asthetically pleasing to me. Is that a Freddish move? Perhaps, but does it really matter?

For those who are interested, the Look bars are lighter than the old aluminum FSA bars, but if I was concerned enough about weight where the 30-40g difference would of mattered to me I probably would of bought a different frame.

fwiw I put a strip of bar tape on the front and back of my tops before wrapping the bars and seem to get the same effect. But I suppose a bar would be easier, espacially if you need an excuse to buy a new one.

If you can find them the ITM wing carbon/alum. bar is very comfy and good value. Also sold under Felt brand but impossible to find. No hidden cable chanel but a good stiff bar with nice flat area for your hands and a bit of carbon bling without the high price.
