I had asked for probably a miracle only to find it today on ebay. Here is the older Pegoretti scheme I was looking for. I think it is understated and absolutely beautiful. Opinions?

I've always wondered if Dario Pegoretti was a peculiar/bizarre man. His designs sure are funky. That one looks pretty sweet, a classical approach to bicycles.

I currently have a LandShark and really want to go back to my roots, "any bike so long as it has red in it."
My Landshark does not. Even though it is a work of art, I really would like this scheme that I saw several years ago. I had asked for anyone to help; but, none did only for me to find this frame on ebay today. I hate to steal a color scheme from Dario; but, this frame is beautiful so long as you like red and blue.

A word in my humble opinion about the Pegoretti's I see currently. I certainly do appreciate the workmanship and I even enjoy the wild paint schemes; but, I can say first hand that when you buy a bike that is a work of art, sooner or later, the frame becomes "busy." That is true of the Colnagos as well. Beautiful, beautiful and you guessed it, beautiful. But, you look on this forum and others, people will always rant and rave about the classics. I do think this paint scheme is a bit busy; but, then again, it isn't over the top.

I also was looking at a subtle; but, unusual color scheme of a Levi Leip....er bike posted on the Landshark website. For a moment, picture the frame, black and white and change it to a red and blue. Opinions? (Hint: go to the Landshark gallery and report back, please.)

Bright blue and red tend to "vibrate" when they are juxtaposed. A deeper hue tends not to have that issue. Something to consider.

How about the Leipheimer from the previous post only in red and blue? By the way, the older Pegoretti I was looking for is a Pegoretti Custom as it was called. Any more opinions?

Hi MICHAELM-

Many blue and red combinations contrast but they don't compliment particularly well. The exception being the darker colors of the American flag or a pair of well-worn denim jeans combined with a new red polo shirt, for example. You would definitely want to work with an experienced painter / technician for that combo.

Please us folk from Kentucky; but, I don't quite get the vibration thing. I do know dark colors pose a bit of a contrasting issue. The Waterford I had with the red and blue fade was not "vibration" issue because of the fade; but, IMHO, the Pegoretti scheme with the yellow pin stripe separates the "vibration." What is the vibration again? I would post the dang Waterford frame; but, not sure how to get the size down. Remember, us folk in Kentucky.

Correction, I focused on the red/blue color mix for 30 seconds and didn't identify the clash; but, I did see an image of something go wondering by.

The point is that this particular blue and this particular red don't look good together. They cause pain to your eyes because it prevents proper focus. If these two colors were used on a bike, people would turn away because it is uncomfortable. It is NOT pleasing. Hopefully that makes it clearer for you.

not only have you just shown an example on a computer screen, not quite the same thing when it's paint on a frame, you seem to have chosen a blue and red of the same chromatic intensity.

I don't know about these colors on a bike but I don't get headaches and I'm looking for 800mg of Motrin right now!

If I was looking at that on a CRT with a refresh rate of 60hz instead of my LCD Monitor my wife would be scraping my brains off the walls.

That is truly painful to look at.
