Check out the caption for this photo... I think the author of the caption doesn't see why the mechanic _did_ route the cable the way he did. That's two goofy captions in as many days. Tsk, tsk.

It's the caption that I wanted was commenting on. The author said the mechanic made a mistake; it looks like the the mechanic did not due to the guide not fitting properly.

Looks like the left side wire is not in the guide, possibly wearing away the finish and possibly adding friction to the cable run.
Cable guide appears to be too wide for the spacing of the internal cable routing.

The cable guide obviously could be shifted right (as we're looking at it), as both cables could fit - see the FD cable on the far left at its exit. It's possible that the hole through the frame for routing the FD cable up to the FD is misdrilled, and this was the only way to route the cable through there - or it's just a screw-up

The mechanic could have elongated the hole in the plastic guide a little so it could slide to the right.
