Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

1. Fizik Arione on all my bikes. Seond preference is WTB Devo, but it's a bit wide.
2. Specialized Alias 143 - OMG, this would be right at home in a medieval torture chamber. Brooks Swift - too rounded on the wide part, so rides up my butt crack, allows sitbones to sink into permanent depressions when broken in - grossly unpleasant experience.

2. Cheap Saddles with too much padding

1. Specialized Toupe 143 - Though have been getting saddle sores. Deal with saddle sores or numbness???

2. There are alot - but Fizik Arione, Bontrager Race Lite, Fizike Pave to name a few.

May try SLK Pro and SLC.

1.Selle San Marco Concor - because my body says so, very good power output, comfortable without being mushy.
2.

+1.I think the upside to this saddle is you can't stand still on it so it's good for races...

Currently:

1. Fizik Arione - I didn't really like it at first, but I got a pair of nice shorts with a good plain foam chamois and it feels right, now. Also looks cool, IMO.

Speicalized Toupe - I don't own one, but I test rode a Roubaix with one recently and loved it. I may replace my Arione with one when I'm not sick of spending money.

2. Selle San Marco Ponza that came on my Soloist Team. The thing digs into the back side of my thighs after only like a quarter of a mile and feels hard as a feckin' rock.

1) Road bike: regular SLR ti, it's getting better and better
Singlespeed: Selle Italia Flite Alpes, they don't make these anymore. Best saddle I've ever had, shame it hurts like hell on my road bike

2) Arione CX. I think it might be just too flat. The sitbones don't hurt, but everything else just about does

Edit: Had a ride on my buddies Merlin with a Specialized Toupe saddle and I was amazed on how comfortable it was

1) Fizik Aliante. Felt great from the first ride. The longest ride I've done with it was 7 1/2 hours straight and the last thing I was worried about was my butt.

2) Specialized Avatar 143. Like sitting on a rock. Couldn't go 15 miles without squirming all over it trying, unsuccessfully, to stop the pain.

Does anyone use a Brooks Swift on their racing bike?

I bought a B17 for my touring bike and it was by far the most comfortable saddled I've ever used. My but still got sore after 6+ hours, but not to the point of pain that I've experience with other saddles.

I've a stock saddle on my Argon Krypton and seriously considering a Brooks. Sure it weighs a little more but if it saves ass pain wouldn't it be work it?

Best stock saddle- Selle San Marco Ponza. Feels like an SLR, but with a little padding.

BTW - the best saddle I've ridden is the Terry Fly. Ugly, but comfy!

Your crazy. This thing hurts like a *****. That little slump in the saddle and the bump on the nose? Maybe I have it set wrong but otherwise *shudders*.

edit: anyone notice the date? Well I guess if a new thread was started we'd all yell about the search function, and now I'll wait for the zombie pictures.

The little slump in the saddle cradles my taint much like a 12 year old Bangkok boy. My only complaint is that the nose has slightly too much padding for my taste.

I would still be using my SLR, but it cracked in twain in a crit at twilight of last season. Alas...

My Avocet Racing I is terrific; just as good today as it was when I got it with my bike back in 1991.
